Sr. Systems Engineer Advisor - Seeking a Sr. Systems Engineer Advisor / Infrastructure Architect for a Federal Govt Program with GDIT in Washington DC. As the Advisor your role is to ensure the stability, integrity and efficient operation of multiple Fed Govt. information systems (Partial telecommute)

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Contributes to completion of specific engineering programs and projects.
  • Develops solutions to a variety of complex engineering problems of moderate scope and complexity.
  • Performs complex systems design, development, and integration from the start of a systems life cycle to the end.
  • Oversight of complex infrastructure including installing, configuring, testing and maintaining operating systems, application software, and system management tools.
  • Performs complex systems modeling, simulation, and analysis.
  • Design virtual storage clusters and physical-to-virtual conversion of servers.
  • Design the environment for High-Availability and Data Recovery. Create virtual machine templates, resource pools and assignment of shares. Assist with development of disaster recovery plans.
  • Performs continual maintenance and provides complex solutions for security, backup and redundancy problems.
  • Prepares and maintains a range of documentation for processes and procedures related to engineering projects.
  • May provide guidance to less-experienced Systems Engineers.
  • Maintains current knowledge of rapidly changing technology.
  • May coach and review the work of less-experienced professionals.
QUALIFICATIONS: BA/BS (or equivalent experience), 10+ years of experience
  • Must have the ability to independently rollout and manage server infrastructure projects, hosting enterprise applications across multi-server farms
  • Extensive system monitoring, auditing, and alerting
  • Proficient knowledge and experience with Azure / AWS services: resource groups, IaaS, PaaS, SaaS services and backup
  • Perform proactive monitoring of system logs, services, scripts, and applications on servers’ systems, storage arrays for internal and customer-facing applications
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills and a consistent record of on-time delivery and customer service to include project planning, budgeting, scheduling, resource management, effective time management, documentation, and organization skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, to express and present ideas clearly and concisely
