Job PurposeAn Azure Cloud Principal will assist the senior Azure expert in the enterprise and will consult with cross-organizational teams to plan, analyze, design, build, test and deploy enterprise solutions on a hybrid cloud architecture that is built on the Azure Public Cloud and Jackson's on-premise infrastructure. The role will apply architecture experience developing solutions using functional requirements and technical Azure expertise in the architecture and design of systems, solutions, Azure PaaS capabilities and Azure infrastructure solutions. Additionally, the role will coach, train, and mentor team members and other stakeholders in support of broader adoption of Azure at Jackson.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Represents Enterprise Architecture on teams responsible for developing strategic cloud guidance, architecture, governance, and planning for Azure cloud delivery models such as SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS, and help to coordinate adoption for same.
  • Architects hybrid cloud and Azure only solutions for priority business needs and technology organization objectives.
  • Analyzes application and infrastructure portfolios, identifying dependencies and common platform components, cost-benefit analysis and assessing migration feasibility. If needed, generates cloud migration roadmaps and driving buy-in across the organization.
  • Drives hybrid solution architecture, strengthening our capabilities and services in the orchestration, automation and targeted service layers.
  • Implements cost optimized solutions (based on usage, business requirements and budget) and establishes governance practices for optimizing costs on Azure including proactive cost management of services, dashboards and reporting.
  • Arbitrates rationale for multi-cloud adoption of select solutions.
  • Part of the cloud governance team is accountable for optimization, security and compliance of application delivery and migration projects.
  • Adopts Azure cloud integration patterns with on-premise applications, cloud providers or other platforms.
  • Collaborates with consulting and managed services partners to build and execute migration and operational plans.
  • Builds, migrates, and tests cloud environments and integration with other providers.
  • Pursues innovation and improvement across the cloud service portfolio.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to evaluate and filter new functional developments and communicate those with relevance to the Company for adoption. Ability to learn new technology in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity, make connections between previously unrelated notions, actively research and apply new technologies using reason and logic and analyze relevant information to make effective decisions.

  • Deep Understanding of cloud computing technologies across Windows and Linux, with demonstrated hands-on experience on one or more of the following domains:
  • Azure Core Platform: Compute, Storage, Networking
  • Data Platform: SQL Server, Azure SQL DB, Azure Data Factory
  • Application development & debugging experience: C/C/C#, Python, Node.JS, etc.
  • Azure Application Development or support experiences with Azure PaaS services (Redis Cache, Service Bus, Event Hub, Cloud Service, IoT suite, Mobile Apps, etc.)
  • Website troubleshooting & coding experience: IIS, Azure Web Apps, PHP, Apache, Tomcat, WordPress, etc.
  • Bigdata and Cognitive Services: HDInsight/Hadoop, CosmosDB, Machine Learning, Azure Stream Analytics
  • Identity and Authentication: SSO/Federation, AD/Azure AD etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement mechanisms to monitor and evaluate programs for their effectiveness and quality.
  • Deep understanding of Cloud Solution Architecture approaches, industry standards, and best practices.
  • General understanding of Application Architecture, Automation and Orchestration, Governance, Integration Architecture, Outsourcing/External Hosting, Security, Communication and Collaboration, Finance/Legal, Procurement/ Vendor Management, Program Leadership, Thought Leadership and Change Management.
  • Comfortable working in matrixed structure and leading transformation.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience and/or education. Desired degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience required.
  • 10+ years in a technical position, with 3+ years as a cloud architect role required.
  • Experience with TOGAF and OpenGroup Architecture Certifications preferred.
