Gardener

North Idaho Fine Gardening (NIFG) is professional garden care business looking to add 2-3 full time gardeners to our team. Based in Sandpoint, our business offers landscape design, installation and high end plant care & maintenance services- no mowing or turf services.

NIFG is seeking individuals who simply love to garden, enjoy the process of caring for plants, and want to gain expert knowledge about plant propagation, and overall garden care. The work we do is comprised of two divisions, landscape installation & garden care. This position will focus on garden care tasks; dividing, weeding, pruning, planting, disease control, fertilizing, and general plant care. Most work revolves around the caretaking of existing landscapes, but work does cross over with the installation crews when planting is required.

Who is the right candidate?

If you love gardening (vegetable or ornamental) and like to work outdoors, this could be the position for you. We are seeking an individual with plant knowledge or someone who can demonstrate that they are willing to learn quickly on the job. We will provide robust training at every job. This position requires a willingness and dedication to learn identification and the associated pruning & maintenance requirements of over 200 species, and a disposition to challenge oneself to perform the highest quality work in accordance with stringent time deadlines. Individuals must be able to work as a team or independently if needed.

Required Qualifications:

1. Demonstrated interest in gardening and horticulture, either personal or professional.

2. A valid drivers license & reliable personal transportation

3. Prior experience working in an outdoor environment (does not have to be gardening). Must be able to work in all weather conditions (spring & fall will be rainy!) & demonstrate that you are able to work hard as a part of our team. We require quality work completed in an efficient manner.

4. Punctuality and clean, professional work attire is required on a daily basis.

Gardener I positions range from $15.00-$18.00/hour DOE. Smoking and personal use of cell phones is prohibited on all job sites. We are an at will employer. Training is on the job and we anticipate that full time work will begin April 1st.

This is a seasonal position spanning Spring-Fall. For the right candidates, work may span into December and start back up again Feb/March, and includes profit sharing with our company. Tips & bonuses are a regular part of summer work for all employees.
