The Bar Manager:

Oversees the staff and operations of Après Handcrafted Libations. This position demands a very self-directed individual who can problem solve creatively and lead a Team under pressure while maintaining the highest level of standards. The bar manager is expected to be organized, flexible, self-motivated, reliable, and willing to cover as needed. The bar manager is expected to have a strong knowledge of classic cocktails and beer styles. Experience managing a bar and working in craft cocktail/beer environment preferred. Strong communication skills are a must but we are considering a wide range of experience for this position.

Salary:

$40,000-45,000 DOE + Tips

Know/Learn all things Après, inside and out.

In charge of overseeing Team operations. Including monthly employee schedules.

o Recruit, interview, hire and train new team members.

o Discipline as needed.

Maintain/create training materials for the Team.

Ensure bar is inviting to customers and that guest experiences are positive.

Interact with customers to develop loyalty and handle customer concerns/complaints

Ensuring the bar is stocked

Follow and enforce all Colorado liquor regulations

Ensure staff is following all food control and safety regulations. Set/maintain standards for safe food handling, cleanliness and safety

Serve as our in house Safe Serve representative

Weekly inventory of well and primary purchase needs

Bi-weekly inventory of all other liquor and consumable items

Stock product and make sure older or expiring items make their way to the front to be used first.

Aid in bar profitability by analyzing liquor costs versus sales

Work with liquor vendors to develop new product lines or promotions for the bar with in Après standards and branding.

Negotiate and maintain relationships with vendors, order supplies, manage inventories and budgets

Weekly updates to the POS. Remove kicked items.

Maintain tap cocktails. Design recipes. Communicate new drinks with the Team. Update Untapped menu and POS to reflect new drinks.

Create recipes to use old product that needs to be used. Push items near expiring.

o Maintain a “cocktail of the moment” that helps us work through these types of products but in a way that meets Après standards of quality. Communicate necessary recipe information with the team. Make sure that everyone always knows the cocktail of the moment and how to make it.

o Maintain stock for these and update as items are used up

Keep all spaces as picked up and tidy as possible.

Bi-weekly purge of employee fridge

Weekly purge and clean-up of fridges

Cleaning floors behind the bar

Handle petty cash

Monitor cooler gages and temperatures.

Tap beers, clean beer lines and update menu in Untapped

Other tasks to be determined

Must have a flexible schedule and be able to fill in as needed

Must work 2 bartending shifts per week

Monthly evaluation of online reviews. Respond to customers in line with company policies. Share feedback with the Team.

Check voicemail and respond to customers. Keep VM up-to-date.

Manage and keep up-to-date minimal technology throughout the bar or oversee any necessary outsourcing. Maintenance on items including sound system, POS iPads, computer, printer and security cameras.

Learn/know about cocktail bitters and become well versed in our Après Handcrafted Bitters line.

Social media direction and coordination.

General maintenance as needed or assigned

Create compliance plans and enforce current requirements

Experience/Qualifications:

Craft focused alcohol service: 1+ year

bartending: 2+ year

bar management: 1+ year (Preferred)

management: 1 year (Preferred)

food & beverage: 2+ years (Preferred)

Safe Serve Certified (Or obtained with in 6 months of employment)

TIPS Certified (Or obtained with in 6 months of employment)

Familiarity with Untapped a plus

Knowledge and Experience with keg systems

Knowledge of Colorado and National craft beer scene preferred

Knowledge of classic and craft cocktail techniques preferred
