JOB DESCRIPTION
CAMP COOK
SUPERVISORY CONTROLS
Works under the supervision of the fire warden who gives initial oral or written instructions. Incumbent proceeds on their own initiative to accomplish assignments. Work is checked to ensure compliance with instructions.
MAJOR DUTIES
Under indirect supervision: maintains inventories, orders and prepares provisions; maintains a meal menu; prepares tasteful and nutritionally wholesome meals; maintains a subsistence budget set by the fire warden; responsible for maintaining sanitary standards set by the Idaho State Health Department and the fire warden; may be required to transport supplies; supervise kitchen help; launder bunkhouse linens; and other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Demonstrated ability to: plan a meal menu; prepare nutritional and wholesome meals for a large group; order supplies to conform to a set budget; valid vehicle operator’s license, if needed.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Employees may be required to work extended hours, split shifts and weekends. Required use of kitchen tools, equipment and heavy objects.
Housing and meals are provided.
The duty station is located at Boehls Fire Camp, a remote area on the northern end of Dworshak Reservoir. There are many opportunities for recreation including hiking, ATV riding, hunting, fishing, etc.
