About the Position:

Delivery is 6 days a week Tuesday thru Sunday (Mondays off!), with a deadline of 6:30 AM during the week days and 7:00 AM on Saturday and Sunday. Carriers are considered independent contractors not Telegraph Herald employees. Being a contractor also means that you are in charge of finding your own substitute should you need a vacation or fall ill. Names and numbers of people who may sub for you can be provided if given enough notice, but we will not cover your route if you're not feeling well. Having a close friend or family member on standby to help out if you have an emergency is always a good idea.

The pay period is twice a month and it's paid per piece. The more papers delivered the more potential there is to make money. Taxes will not be taken out of your check but you will be provided a 1099 form at the end of the year. If you're using your car frequently it might be a good idea to keep track of your mileage for tax purposes, but we do not reimburse you for anything.

If you decide to give up your routes, we do require a 30-day written notice, and you would be responsible for the route(s) for the whole 30 days unless we are able to find a replacement sooner.
