Job Description

Purpose of Position:

Position is responsible for managing Foster Poultry Farms income tax compliance, shareholder tax services, and shareholder distribution process. This position works internally with the Tax Director and externally with shareholder advisors, consultants and taxing authorities.

Essential Job Functions:

Manage federal and state S Corporation income and franchise tax reporting ensuring accurate and timely compliance with applicable regulations

Direct and monitor preparation of tax workpaper documentation to support income tax reporting, including book/tax differences, state apportionment and credits, requiring interface with various internal departments, shareholder advisors and consultants

Review tax aspects of fixed asset depreciation reporting ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations, and coordinate process of revising SAP tax depreciation calculations as appropriate

Manage preparation of year-end tax provision calculations and workpapers

Direct, monitor, and prepare miscellaneous tax filings (excise, CAT, gross receipts, commerce taxes)

Manage preparation of Foster Poultry Farms quarterly and extension income tax projections

Research, interpret and monitor new tax law changes

Manage preparation of shareholder quarterly income tax reporting provided to shareholder advisors

Develop, monitor, and analyze tax distribution model to ensure shareholders are appropriately distributed for taxes while minimizing entity cash flow

Manage, analyze, and maximize CA Enterprise Zone Credit utilization for shareholder income tax filings

Manage, instruct and monitor shareholder distribution process, including communicating with shareholders and their advisors

Prepare and analyze quarterly forecast of shareholder distributions provided to upper management

Prepare annual budget, manage billing and interpret contract for CA EZ credit hiring fees and work opportunity tax credit

Manage banking, accounting and tax functions for a separate Foster’s partnership, and work with outside accounting firm

Participate in Department initiatives and special projects as needed, such as R&D tax credits and transfer pricing

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting

CPA license

5-7 years income tax experience with 3-5 years national/regional public accounting income tax experience

Ability to balance, prioritize & organize tasks and meet deadlines

Must be self-motivated and resourceful

Possess excellent communication and analytical/problem solving skills

Advanced Excel skills

Ability to effectively interface with various internal and external individuals and/or entities

Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment

Respect for confidentiality concerning company and shareholder information

Preferred Requirements:

Master’s in Taxation

S Corporation and Partnership income tax experience

Working knowledge of ProSystems tax preparation software

Experience with SAP GL & fixed asset systems

Knowledge of Thompson Reuters Checkpoint tax research software
