Data Scientist

IMMEDIATE NEED for a Data Scientist to join a well-established healthcare solutions organization in the great Los Angeles area. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting leadership and Healthcare Informatics teams with insights gained from analyzing company and external data to help make smarter decisions and drive better outcomes. The Data Scientist will be using large data sets to find opportunities for quality improvement and process optimization. You will use a variety of data mining/data analysis techniques, using a variety of data tools, building and implementing predictive models, using/creating algorithms upon structured and unstructured data.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with stakeholders throughout the organization to identify opportunities for leveraging big data to drive business solutions.
  • Will be working with Python, SQL and Azure.
  • Mine and analyze data (both structured and unstructured data) from company databases and external data when needed to drive quality improvement, process optimization and business strategies.
  • Select features, building and optimizing models using machine learning techniques.
  • Process, clean, and verify the integrity of data used for analysis.
  • Develop custom data models and algorithms to apply to data sets.
  • Use predictive models to increase and optimize intervention targeting, coding accuracy, and other business outcomes.
  • Do ad-hoc analysis and present results in a clear manner.
  • Develop processes and tools to monitor and analyze model performance and data accuracy.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years data science experience
  • Minimum of a master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent
  • Excellent understanding of machine leaning techniques (clustering, decision tree learning, neural networks, etc.), the natural language processing techniques, and their real-world advantages/drawbacks.
  • Knowledge of advanced statistical techniques and concepts (regression, properties of distributions, statistical tests and proper usage, etc.) and experience with applications.
  • Experience using common data science toolkits (R, Python, SAS, etc.) to handle data and draw insights from large data sets.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in using query languages such as SQL.
  • Healthcare solutions experience
