Job Description

The Maintenance Assistant is responsible for performing preventative maintenance and repairs on all company-owned vehicles, equipment, and property as needed and assigned. He / She must also have the ability to manually move and lift 50 lbs regularly and frequently up to and over 100 lbs. The typical work schedule will be Monday – Friday. Hours will vary based on business needs. Overtime and some weekend work may also be required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic mechanical repairs and maintenance on forklifts, vehicles, production equipment, buildings, and other company-owned equipment
  • Inspect, use and maintain equipment in good working order
  • Properly use a variety of equipment including but not limited to pick-up truck, box truck, forklifts, scissor lifts, tractor, and aerial lift
  • Maintain overall cleanliness/organization of the Maintenance shop and work areas
  • Independently use reasoning skills to determine proper course of action in regards to maintenance issues
  • Safely and conscientiously, work around mechanical and electrical devices and components
  • Verify parts and supplies received from vendors are accurate
  • Record when preventative maintenance and other maintenance tasks have been performed and addressed
  • Communicate in a professional manner with other employees, vendors, customers, supervisors, and managers
  • Oversee and direct others on projects, processes, and other assigned tasks
  • Work adjusted and/or longer hours as needed to achieve objectives.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Prior maintenance experience preferred
  • Ability to read and write in English
  • Strong work ethic
  • Ability to work independently, in a group, and direct others
  • Certification on various equipment such as forklift, reach truck, and order picker or willing to be certified
  • Basic organizational, mathematical, and computer skills
  • Knowledge of proper safety measures
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to perform job functions
  • Ability to manually move and lift 50 lbs regularly and frequently up to and over 100 lbs
  • Ability to work at varying heights
  • Ability to stand frequently as well as the ability to walk, sit, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch
  • Other duties as assigned
