Job Description

This position is responsible for advancing the quality function within the organization. The successful candidate will need a proactive approach to quality within our and our supplier operations.

Key responsibilities include supporting APQP-PPAP processes, corrective actions, preventative actions, implementing and adhering to Quality Management System Standards, ensuring timely responses, and assuring customer & supplier satisfaction. This is a highly visible role within the organization.

1. Troubleshoot production processes in an effort to support improvement to existing manufacturing tooling, processes, methods, and procedures.

2. Support Advanced Quality Planning (AQP) efforts.

3. Update procedures, PFMEA, and control plans as necessary.

4. Proactively visit the customer & supplier, review assembly operations, and talk to line employees to improve business relationships and solicit input for improvements at ITW Drawform.

5. Responsible for reducing and controlling manufacturing process defects (scrap, nonconforming material and customer & supplier complaints) by leading efforts/teams focused on identifying the primary root causes and implementing corrective and preventive actions.

6. Lead initiatives for improved quality.

7. Communicate and correspond with customer and supplier base in a timely fashion regarding all quality concerns, follow up on open items, or general requests for information.

8. Interface with Manufacturing, Engineering, and Management regarding quality monitoring, corrective action process, quality improvement actions, and containment actions.

9. Perform project-based work, as assigned or directed, on improving quality and reducing scrap or defects.

10. Support quality audit process (Customer, TS16949, line side reviews, corrective actions, etc.)

11. Report on status of quality, customer & supplier relations, and projects as requested.

12. Comply with ITW policies, safety standards, and housekeeping practices.

13. Perform other duties as assigned or directed.

Qualifications

Education

Bachelors Degree in Engineering required.

Quality Engineer Certification Preferred.

Experience

Minimum of 5 years working in an automotive manufacturing environment.

Proof of successful project and team experience.

Quality Systems maintenance and 3rd party audit support.

Skills

High level of comfort when working in ambiguous situations, with the ability to gather pieces of information and summarize them into meaningful statements and/or instructions.

Familiarity with a variety of quality, manufacturing and engineering concepts, practices, and procedures.

Ability to make decisions based on experience to plan and accomplish goals.

Ability to perform a variety of complicated tasks in a very flexible environment.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to lead a multi-discipline problem resolution team.
