SUMMARY:The Production Manager will direct and coordinate activities concerned with production of the company products by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors and crew leaders.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Leading a large operations team through their production plan. There will be both tactical and strategic responsibilities such as: handling employee concerns, real time problem solving to manage plan changes, planning for product or customer launches, seeking and executing continuous improvements, and managing a labor budget.
  • Reviews production orders or schedules to a certain product data such as types, quantities and specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates in order to manage department operations to execute the shift plan.
  • Understands how to plan production operations, establishing priorities and sequences for manufacturing products. Ability to step in and make changes as needed to complete the orders for the shift.
  • Prepares operational schedules and coordinates manufacturing activities to ensure production and quality of products meets specifications.
  • Reviews production and operating reports and resolves operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum cost and prevent operational delays.
  • Inspects machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization.
  • Develops or revises standard operational and working practices and observes workers to ensure compliance with standards.
  • SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Analyzes work orders to estimate worker hours and create machining schedules that meet both internal and external needs.
  • Computes amounts of stock and supplies required to operations, based on production schedules, and requisitions materials form storage area.
  • Plans flow of materials through department and develops physical layout of machines according to work orders.
  • Interfaces with others in the company to ensure customer deadlines are met.
  • Inspect and measures parts and products to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
  • Develops, recommends, and implements measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of product.
  • Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department or work crew.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems or assist workers in solving work problems.
  • Maintains time and attendance based on production needs. Manages Overtime.
  • Work closely with Quality Assurance and the Quality Systems Auditors to insure effective execution of all Maintenance –related sanitation and Food Safety programs and their documentation.
  • Perform other reasonable job-related duties as assigned or requested.
  • Must have a high level of problem solving skills.
  • Must be able to work effectively as a team player, with the ability to interact across departmental boundaries, minimizing conflict and maximizing good will across all company departments.
  • QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Job experience: minimum of 5 to 10 years’ management experience or demonstrated equivalent.
  • Bachelor Degree preferred
  • Bilingual (Spanish) required.
  • Ability to develop procedures, job descriptions, and other necessary documents, and keep them current.
  • Be familiar with food-related requirements such as: GMP’s, HACCP, SSOP’s, OSHA, and USDA.
  • Must be able to work any shift, weekends, holidays and flexible schedules as needed.
  • Must be familiar with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Outlook) and have a general competency in computer operation.
  • WORKING CONDITIONS

    AND PHYSICAL ASPECTS:
  • Stand and walk for a long period of time.
  • Ability to use all four senses, sight, hearing, touch and smell.
  • Work in a refrigerated room temperature.
  • Work in a wet environment.
  • Must wear personal protective equipment at all times.
