Essential Job Responsibilities/Duties/Tasks
  • Management and ownership of corporate LAN equipment, consisting primarily of Cisco network devices. Evaluate and isolate network performance issues via network monitoring and analysis, and performance tuning. Manage firmware updates and security compliance.
  • Maintain and manage daily operations of Cisco & Avaya telephone systems.• Support and maintain extensive wireless infrastructure to include local WAPs, hotspots and P2P/P2MP links using a variety of Cisco, Ubiquiti, Motorola, Cradlepoint, OpenMesh & Xirrus hardware.
  • Support and maintain the voice and network physical layer and infrastructure. Troubleshooting of analog, twisted pair Ethernet and fiber infrastructure including pulling new lines through complex environments.
  • Conducts site surveys and meets with other department contacts to plan and coordinate new / upgraded cabling and telecommunications equipment.
  • Troubleshooting of analog (POTS) lines, twisted pair Ethernet and fiber infrastructure using various tools such as network diagnostic tools or standard hand tools. Maintains current telephone line terminations records. Identify, tag and trace existing analog telephone lines.
  • Clean up and organize existing wiring closets
  • Manage and assist third party contractors on large scale projects.
  • Configure and maintain corporate call centers running Cisco UCCX to include call tree scripts, Agent mobility and reporting.
  • Educate/train Tier 1 Help Desk support personnel and end-users by assisting them with various applications related to the network and phone systems.
  • Maintain WAN infrastructure - includes Cisco routers and Palo Alto firewalls.
  • Research, test and evaluate vendor hardware and software products. Conduct feasibility studies and develop system, time, equipment and cost requirements. Plan, implement, test, and troubleshoot system rollouts.
  • Protect company hardware and software by maintaining detailed hardware, software inventory and warranty records.
  • Use the work order system to evaluate, assign and prioritize issues. Maintaining written documentation of issues and their resolutions
  • Document procedures and routines within the corporate knowledgebase Wiki.
  • Establish/recommend policies on system use and services.
  • Assist with Systems and Help Desk related functions during high season operations and special events.
  • Provide emergency 7x24 on call support on a rotating schedule.
  • Follow all company and department safety policies and procedures.

    Equipment Used in Job: Typical network wiring equipment (crimpers, cutters, toners, cable testers, lineman's handset, etc), various software, hardware and computer equipment. Experience Required
    • Self-starter attitude and work ethic that can take high level direction and run with it through the minutia of a project without constant supervision. Easily works around 'road blocks' and finds a way to get things done.
    • Knowledge of and experience configuring/troubleshooting VoIP and analog systems.
    • Solid understanding of network wiring principals, complex cable pulling and cable termination skills
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills: capable of training users and peers in applications and operating system fundamentals; writing documentation; writing both high level and detailed proposals and system requirements.
    • Experience in one or more of Squaw Valley | Alpine Meadows business application systems; Cisco UCM, Cisco UCCX, Cisco IOS, Avaya Administrator, Palo Alto Firewall, Ubiquiti UNMS and UniFi
    • Four year degree in CS/IS/IT or other related discipline; or 4 years of network/telephony engineering experience; or the equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

    • High School or better
