Cloud Big Data Engineer, San Diego, CA 6+ Months Phone + Skype What you bring to the table You are an engineer with 7 or more years of experience with Cloud-based big data platform development. You are capable of owning significant design and development responsibility. You can work with autonomy to get things done while collaborating with others on architectural and process decisions. You are comfortable with giving and receiving feedback from your teammates and others in the organization. You can think on your feet and conceptualize what needs to be done from incomplete and evolving requirements. You hit deadlines and communicate effectively. The successful candidate will also have experience with:

  • Azure Cloud Services
  • Designing solutions architecture
  • Building big data platform
  • Building RESTful APIs
  • Working with Infrastructure and security as code
  • Designing data models

Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree or above (Computer Science, Bio Engineering, Electronics and Electrical Engineering or any related field)
  • 7+ years of Cloud-based big data platform development experience or configuration and implementation of IaaS, Infrastructure as code, Azure, etc.
  • Profound understanding and tech-lead level experience in enterprise network engineering and infrastructure security.
  • Hands-on experience with modern CICD automation eco-systems: Azure DevOps and pipelines, Terraform, Azure Resource Manager, Kubernetes, GitHub, and configuration management tools such as Puppet, Chef, or Ansible
  • Hands-on experience with security, authentication in industry standards like TLS, OAuth2.
  • Great communication and decision-making skills in dynamic team environments.
  • Experience with architecting, implementing and maintaining enterprise level highly available mission critical environments for 24x7 availability
  • Experience with building data lakes and data warehouses by leveraging any of the major cloud providers (GCP, AWS or Azure)
  • Experience working in an environment with a defined production change control process
  • Experience with building stream-processing systems, using solutions such as Spark-Streaming or Flink
  • Experience with integration of data from multiple data sources
  • Knowledge of Big Data querying tools
  • Knowledge of various persistence (RDBMS, noSQL, HDFS, Cassandra, Redis)
  • Knowledge of various ETL techniques
  • Knowledge of messaging systems, such as Kafka or RabbitMQ

  • Experience with big data processing

  • Experience with Oracle, PostgresSQL, Mongo development and optimization
