We are hiring a Network Infrastructure Engineer on the Network Planning and Architecture team, which is responsible for the planning, architecture, innovation, and maintenance of the internal network providing connectivity services for Expedient’s products and services within and between each data center. Under the COVID-19 restrictions, the majority of our employees are currently working remotely. However, there are critical positions, such as this one, that may require an occasional physical presence on-site in the data center. As a result, every effort is being made to ensure the protection of our employees in the data center.
Responsibilities:- Plan, coordinate, and implement complex network projects and changes to meet the challenges and requirements of the business and our clients
- Work closely with our hardware and software vendors to continually improve the capabilities of the network and its services
- Troubleshooting of advanced routing and switching issues at both a backbone-wide and client specific level
- Identify and work to resolve potentially service impacting issues or software bugs on the core and cloud network infrastructure
- Periodic evening and weekend work with the ability to travel to data center locations as needed: Baltimore, Boston, Cleveland, Columbus, Indianapolis, Phoenix, Pittsburgh and Memphis
- Create and maintain network standards documentation for the Support and Service Delivery teams
- Utilize technical knowledge and professional discretion to make sound judgment calls when needed
- Ability to prioritize and be productive in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to learn things quickly and run with them requiring minimal direction
- Ability to think on your feet and overcome unexpected setbacks or issues
- Strong attention to detail with good organizational capabilities
- Comprehensive understanding of the principles of networking (Layers 2 and 3)
- Experience with routing protocols including BGP, EIGRP, and OSPF
- Familiarity with carrier level network protocols such MPLS, MPLS VPNs, VPLS, VXLAN, MC-LAG/MLAG, and EVPN
- Experience with Layer 2 protocols including QinQ, STP/RSTP, and LACP
- Experience with enterprise/carrier-class routers and switches (Cisco, Juniper)
- Experience working with firewalls (Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto)
- CCNA or JNCIA or equivalent knowledge
- Experience with VMWare and VMWare NSX is a plus
- Experience with Linux/Unix operating systems is a plus
- Experience with scripting languages such as Perl, Python, or SLAX is a plus
- Experience with automation such as Ansible, Salt, Chef or Puppet is a plus
- Ability to pass pre-employment screens
- 3-5 years as a Network Administrator or Engineer operating in either a Cisco, Juniper, or Arista environment
- The ideal candidate would possess industry technical certifications from vendors like Cisco and/or Juniper (CCNA, CCENT, CCNP, JNCIA, JNCIS, JNCIP, etc.)
