Job Description

Provide supervision of refrigeration, boiler and waste water treatment maintenance functions within the Livingston manufacturing complex. Also, plan and direct preventive maintenance and maintenance repair/overall actions on equipment located throughout the complex.

Direct and supervise shift maintenance for all refrigeration, boiler and waste water treatment facilities in the Livingston Plant complex. Specifically:

  1. Prepare work schedules and mechanic duty assignments as required to support the total maintenance program and the requirements of Production and USDA personnel.
  2. Perform frequent on-the-job inspections to ensure employee safe working habits, safe work areas, high quality workmanship and effectiveness of maintenance and repairs.
  3. Evaluate, prioritize and schedule maintenance repair requests to ensure timely completion of all repair actions.
  4. Accurately estimate materials and manpower costs for job orders and project requests.
  5. Routinely inspect equipment for needed repairs and maintenance. Prepare maintenance repair requests.
  6. Proved technical assistance to assigned personnel in the following areas: proper operation of equipment, proper use of maintenance manuals/schematics, efficient troubleshooting and proper maintenance/repair of equipment.

Provide the Maintenance Supervisor with a written list of materials and replacement parts as requires. Specifically:

  1. Initiate purchase requisitions.
  2. Initiate Material Request Cards for spare stock on Maintenance Inventory Control.
  3. Recommend needed special tools as required.
  4. Identify current/potential spares shortages or zero balances.

Responsible for continuous employee training program (as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor), especially for newly assigned personnel. Increase the effectiveness of experienced personnel. Specifically:

  1. Develop on-the-job training programs for new personnel.
  2. Evaluate and document employee training records.
  3. Develop employee training requirements for new equipment.
  4. Develop employee skill level upgrading tests.

Conduct monthly environmental inspections and keep all required maintenance records current.

Monitor and keep all required maintenance records current. These records are to be used to conduct analysis and generate reports.

Conduct an aggressive, on going safety program to include: inspection, instruction, correction, prevention and documentation.

Qualifications

  • Must possess a minimum of five (5) years maintenance experience in poultry or related industrial areas
  • Must have a minimum of two (2) years supervisory experience with emphasis on:

a. Expertise in all phases of boiler, refrigeration and waste water treatment operations

b. Demonstrate good interpersonal communication skills

c. Exhibit good leadership skills

d. Have working knowledge of state-of-the-art control devices

e. Must be able to work with minimal supervision

  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be a trained First Responder – Level A suit qualified
  • Must be a trained Haz-Mat responder at 40-hour level
  • Must be certified in Confined Space training
  • Must be current on CPR/First Aid certification
  • Must be trained in lock-out tag-out and safe work practices
  • Must be able to bend, stoop walk and stand for prolonged periods of time
  • Must be able to climb and work from ladders and in confined spaces safely
  • Must be able to work from high altitudes, catwalks and roofs
  • Must be able to lift over 50 pounds
  • Must be able to work on wet concrete floors
  • Must be able to work overtime, weekends and times dictated by production equipment requirements/needs
  • Must be able to submit and pass a criminal background check
