Company Summary:
Pettit Development, LLC, is a family owned and operated residential excavation and land development contractor based out of Gaithersburg, MD with a maintenance and repair shop in Howard County seeking full-time hourly heavy equipment operator(s) who can operate a variety of heavy construction equipment and is willing to work a minimum 40 hours per week with overtime and weekend opportunities.
The operator would be responsible for operating excavation equipment such as CAT 953-D loaders, CAT 321-D excavators, CAT D-4K dozers, Vibatory Rollers, Case 580K backhoes, ASV and Takeuchi track loaders, etc. on residential new construction job sites within the Washington Metropolitan DC Area.
Job Descriptions:
This position is for a Full Time Heavy Equipment Operator that has the following skills:
Operate various pieces of large equipment in accordance with company procedures and safety regulations
Ensure proper operation of equipment by performing regular checks on their functionality
Document regular maintenance checks to maintain adequate records of equipment performance
Provide preventative maintenance to ensure equipment is safe and operating properly
Regularly clean equipment to preserve its quality and functionality
Perform minor repairs on equipment issues
Report needs for larger repairs to the appropriate parties
Abide by all local, state, and federal regulations, as well as all company safety procedures
Commit to the overall safety of the work environment by always taking extra precautions to work with the utmost care and consideration
Make safety a priority at all times. Wear safety apparel when required.
Adhere to company rules and regulations per company handbook.
Track and report working hours on company timesheet weekly and provide it to supervisor.
Communicate with supervisor for daily instructions and tasks.
Sign material, purchased goods/services receipts. Turn all receipts into supervisor.
Understand how to read engineered cut and fill sheets for your scope of work
Understand how to use of a laser level for shooting grade elevations
Heavy Equipment Operator Requirements and Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent
10+ years of experience working with heavy equipment
Possession of a driver's license (CDL-A preferred, not required ), or a willingness to obtain the license
Knowledge of proper operation of heavy equipment as well as OSHA safety standards
Ability to maintain, inspect, clean, and occasionally repair pieces of heavy equipment
Keen attention to detail and situational awareness to maintain the safety of the work environment
Strong work ethic and physical ability to lift 50+ pounds
