JOB CLASSIFICATIONExemptBerry College is hiring a System Administrator. The System Administrator will maintain reliable, secure and efficient systems within Berry College. This includes, but is not limited to wireless access points, switches, routers, firewalls, cloud, and servers. Responsibilities include deployment, configuration, maintenance and monitoring of network/server equipment to ensure stability and security. DUTIES OF THE POSITION
  • Perform a wide range of network administration duties including installations, debugging, maintenance, upgrades, and general support. Technologies include wireless access points, switches, routers, firewalls, and servers.
  • Evaluate, test, and deploy software and hardware to the IT infrastructure.
  • Configuration and deployment of core and edge network devices.
  • Monitor networks and systems to identify performance improvement opportunities.
  • Work with team members to plan and resolve connectivity/performance issues.
  • Work closely with fellow team members to provide end-user support and issue resolution.
  • Support and administer third-party applications.
  • Microsoft Active Directory – manage user accounts, security group permissions, passwords, and work with group policy.
  • Office 365 – manage email accounts and distribution groups as well as support smooth operation of related products.
  • Collaborate with vendors for procurement and maintenance of all IT infrastructures.
  • Utilize project-based initiatives to report on, plan for, and make user of IT resources.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree, equivalent work experience in related field, or industry related certifications (CompTIA, Microsoft, etc.)
  • 4+ years of Information Technology experience

KEY COMPETENCIES AND KNOWLEDGE
  • Hands on experience in networking (wired and wireless).
  • Remote implementation, troubleshooting, and problem resolution.
  • Ability to install and configure server hardware.
  • Familiarity with backup and recovery software and methodologies.
  • Strong written and verbal skills.
  • Demonstrable experience in a network administrator role.
  • Knowledge of standard methodologies around management, control, and monitoring of server infrastructure.
  • Excellent organization, prioritization and multitasking skills
  • Ability to maintain up to date knowledge of industry trends and technologies.

WORK ENVIRONMENTMost of the work is performed in an office environment. The System Administrator will also work on equipment located in network closets, ceilings, junction boxes, and other hard to reach places.

PHYSICAL DEMANDSInvolves lifting and movement of equipment during installation and maintenance.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
  • Requires availability for on call support and after hour maintenance.
  • Ability to work under stress and time constraints.
  • Basic knowledge of telecommunication and cable television infrastructure.
  • Rudimentary knowledge of security, video, and access control systems.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
