THIS POSITION IS NIGHTS AND WEEKENDS

We are a small family store in the Traverse City area and we need someone who will help us care for customers.

This job is to get to know regular customers, greeting everyone with a warm smile, friendly banter and calling them by name as best you can. It is an opportunity to be a bright spot in the day of many people.

Our employees and customers become like family to us, so this might not be for you if you just want to punch a clock and go home. We expect our staff to go the extra miles to care for both customers and other employees. We seek real people and excellent human beings.

Requirements:

-outgoing friendly personality

-basic computer & keyboarding skills

-advanced broom & mop operating skills

-basic knowledge of food handling

-common sense

-a passion for cleanliness

-mysteriously intuitive knowledge of people and things (authentic ESP a plus)

-must NOT be allergic to dihydrogen monoxide

Duties Include:

-waiting on customers

-running a computerized cash register system

-stocking shelves and walk-in beverage coolers

-dealing with machines that hate human beings

-making small talk

-completion of cleaning checklists

-occasionally dealing with grumpy customers

-doing things that are not in your job description

-posting interesting things on facebook while working

-dusting things to make yourself look busy after you skillfully completed the checklist in record time because you're just that awesome.

-occasional lifting up to 50 lb

-counting money. correctly.

-safely selling of alcohol and tobacco products

Must have a good attitude, high ethical standards and tell strange jokes at random. Good working knowledge of seemingly unimportant information a plus.

Also may be required to randomly listen to fellow employees who have really screwed up their life in some way and need a shoulder to cry on (no actual touching required).

Other random miscellaneous duties may include: taking out the trash, cleaning the bathroom, shoveling snow when the shovel guy no-shows, making me a sandwich, waiting on customers in a retail environment, taste testing for the cook, acting smart yet humble, delivering food, price checking, data entry, calling tech support, screening phone solicitors and deflecting radio advertising salespeople.

NOTE: If you are not living in the Traverse City area, you need to tell me why you are applying in this area (ie. are you looking to relocate here?)

And if you are only applying as a requirement of your unemployment claim, but have no real intention of seeking gainful employment: Don't waste our time.

To Apply

Email your resume/work history and tell me something interesting about yourself.

If you're resume is appealing, I'm going to ask you the following (Include answers in your email if you're serious about getting this job)

1. How many hours are you looking for?

2. Do you prefer working mornings or evenings?

3. Are there any times or days you are not available (ie. weekends, bowling nights, church on Sunday)?

4. When would you be able to start?

5. Describe one or more situations where you feel it is not needed to give your employer a 2-week notice before leaving a job.

6. If you found a $20 bill on the floor while at work, what would you do with it?
