Pay Transparency Policy Statement.Job Description Microchip is looking for a Product Marketing Staff Engineer to join the HMID Marketing Organization and be responsible for business development as well as product marketing for Automotive and Industrial touchscreen controllers. The candidate must have an ability to work in an entrepreneurial environment and relish the challenge of a dynamic workplace. This position requires an enterprising engineer who will work with tactical marketing managers in Asia, America and Europe as well with the Application teams worldwide. She/he will drive the definition and positioning of leading-edge touchscreen controllers in automotive and industrial applications. The candidate will be based in North America, ideally in Michigan or Illinois.

Responsibilities will include (but will not be limited to):
  • Design-ins of Microchip products in automotive and industrial applications taking advantage of the Microchip broad portfolio of touch controllers.
  • New product definition and introduction
  • Business Development: Evaluate market segments and applications, work close with customers and feedback on requirements and trends for new products, functions and systems with focus on North America
  • Interact with the various disciplines and other Business Units within Microchip as well as the 3rd party suppliers in the Automotive/Industrial and Touch supply chains, such as ITO sensor vendors, touch module manufacturers and system/software design houses to support customer needs.
  • Support the Microchip sales organization with marketing tools and price quotes for North America
  • Review with Sales the customer demand forecast and backlog coverage for OEM and Distribution for North America
Job Requirements

Requirements / Skill Set:
  • Bachelors/Masters degree in Electronics, Computer science or other related fields
  • MBA or senior expertise gained in marketing and/or applications positions
  • 3-5 yrs of experience in microcontroller and or touch controller system activities: application, technical marketing…
  • 2-3 years of experience in the Automotive segment
  • Ability to travel throughout the United States and occasionally to Europe and Asia for customer visits as well as visits to Microchip R&D and Sales offices

Required characteristics:
  • Self-motivated, customer-oriented with attention to details
  • Self-directed - works well with minimal supervision and is able to multi-task
  • Strong oral and written communication skills – English mandatory, second language would be advantageous
  • Excellent analytical & problem-solving mindset/skills
