Our client in Mountain View is looking for a Product Quality Engineer to join their talented team on a long-term contract basis. Ideal candidates will have strong experience in mechanical design, manufacturing and/or quality assurance with a solid understanding of Manufacturing Quality Management Systems and the QA/QC processes. RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Act as the primary point of contact for system level quality
  • Promote a culture of quality and continuous improvement
  • Lead cross-functional technical reviews to obtain consensus on manufacturing inspection methods, gauge and fixture designs during NPI and beyond
  • Collaborate with design, supplier quality, manufacturing and process engineering teams to optimize component design that is suitable for mass production
  • Provide on-site support during manufacturing bring-up, equipment qualification and measurement correlation between manufacturing sites
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive Product Quality Plan (PQP) for product lines
  • Manage and resolve quality issues, identify root cause and implement effective and sustainable countermeasures to prevent any future occurrence
  • Qualify new metrology equipment for In-Process Quality Control and complete measurement system analysis to ensure optimal performance and capability
  • Manage Quality Escalations and generate detailed reports on Production Quality Issues
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or equivalent
  • 6+ years of relevant work experience in mechanical design, manufacturing and/or quality assurance
  • Hands-on experience developing and validating automated inspection equipment and mechanical gauges
  • Excellent quality issue and crisis management skills
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to create clear and concise reports on complex issues
  • Detailed knowledge of Manufacturing Quality Management Systems
  • Detailed knowledge of QA and QC processes such as SPC
  • Six Sigma Training is a plus
  • Experience in PCB and PCBA manufacturing is a plus
  • Knowledge of GD&T, and tolerance stack analysis is a plus
  • International experience, particularly in Asia, is a plus
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 20% of the time
  • Experience with developing PQP (Product Quality Plans)
  • IQC, IPQC, OQC
  • Traceability
  • SPC, Process capability index (Cpk)
  • Automotive/Consumer Electronics preferred, Medical devices background is good
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • May be tasked with lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling up to 25 lbs., if able to do so.
  • Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time and walk/stand for moderate periods of time.
  • Must be able to bend at the knees and waist frequently
  • Must be able to repetitively use a telephone and a computer mouse and keyboard.
