Join us and start doing your life's best work.(sm)The Application Security Engineer is a specialized position that plays a key role in securing software built and /or used by Optum. You can expect to work closely with software development teams as well as third party organizations to ensure that security, privacy, and compliance requirements are planned for, designed, and built into software applications at Optum. In addition to securing software you will be expected keep tabs on what's happening in the industry in order to optimize and align our application security processes and systems throughout the Software Development Lifecycle.The ideal candidate is a goal-oriented self-starter, effective communicator with the ability to collaborate across technical and leadership levels and will have a demonstrated ability to provide "best in class" solutions. S/he is a curious & creative thinker whom is deeply interested in the latest security developments and tools.You'll enjoy the flexibility to telecommute from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges.Primary Responsibilities:
- Advanced technical knowledge of implementation, support, maintenance, and repair of Epic Security templates, access methods, and role-based security
- Very strong in MS Excel, including creation and use of pivot tables, analyze worksheet data, create & manage macros, etc.
- Writing, teaching, speaking, and presentation skills are very important. You are expected to draft policies, discuss issues, and explain to upper management how your security efforts fit into the JMH security roadmap
- Actively researches and monitors Epic and other vendor news resources for news of new vulnerabilities or incidents and proactively shares this information with the team
- Plans the implementation and upgrades of Epic security measures and controls
- Analyzes security breach data to determine root cause
- Provides Epic, IAM, and Information Security technical expertise across the Information Security team in managing and maintaining the systems across JMH
- Responsible for the implementation of key Epic and IAM initiatives based upon the level of risk for the enterprise IT platforms and infrastructure
- Demonstrates understanding of securely applying and managing user access to systems and applications. This includes the creation, management, and maintenance of end user's objects and attributes to resources both on-prem and in the cloud
- Analyzes Epic system data and creates reports and dashboards
- Epic certifications (Security, ADT, Ambulatory, Cadence, HIM, Data Courier, etc.)
- 3+ years of experience with application security and provisioning in a healthcare environment
- 3+ years in Identify Management
- If you need to enter a work site for any reason, you will be required to screen for symptoms using the ProtectWell mobile app, Interactive Voice Response (i.e., entering your symptoms via phone system) or similar UnitedHealth Group-approved symptom screener. When in a UnitedHealth Group building, employees are required to wear a mask in common areas. In addition, employees must comply with any state and local masking orders
- Bachelor's degree
- Epic certifications (ADT, Security, Ambulatory, Cadence, HIM, Data Courier, etc.)
- Certifications: IAM, IG, MDM
