Job Title: ETL Engineer Forecasted Start Date: Forecasted Start Date = May 17th 2021 Official Worksite Address: MSP Headquarters - 7150 Harris Dr Dimondale, MI 48821 Working Location: Combination of on-site and remote work defined by future DTMB and CIP direction/guidelines and agreed to by the Hiring Manager. This role will primarily be responsible for designing, developing and implementing data transfer programs (a.k.a. mechanisms, jobs, routines) commonly referred to as Extract-Transform-Load (ETL) across various source systems and loading data into a centralized repository (which is currently a department level database/data mart). Secondarily, this resource will be responsible for assisting in the production of a variety of security and compliance related reports, dashboards, metrics and Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) for Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Protection leadership and related DTMB offices as well as Agency Leaders. An ideal candidate is very strong in ETL, has solid knowledge of data architecture concepts, and also has material experience in report development, specifically using PowerBI. Primary ETL Engineer resource responsibilities: Actively participate and collaborate with the project team, report requestors and end users Understand the data requirements from user requests, documentation and JAD sessions Recommend approaches and solutions to solve data challenges Design ETL jobs to meet data requirements Produce design and testing documentation Develop and Test ETL jobs (currently Python and PowerShell are the preferred development language for ETL) Collaborate very closely with Report Developers to meet report requestor and end user data needs Manage and monitor ETL jobs using Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Implement ongoing improvements and necessary changes to ETL jobs (i.e. source system changes) Tune ETL jobs to improve performance and efficiency Secondary ETL Engineer (Report Developer) resource responsibilities: Consume audience requirements and translate those into prototypes and wireframe designs Collaborate with team and stakeholders iteratively to develop PowerBI operational reports, Risk Management Scorecards, and dashboards for Executive and Agency Level leadership. Design, develop and implement the report delivery mechanisms, including but not limited to, O365 Integration (SharePoint, Teams, etc.), Mobile, PDF tools/integration, etc. Ability to deliver data and reporting in various capacities including project level work efforts, day to day operational reporting and ad hoc requests from management/leadership Accordingly, follow the State of Michigan's Project and Software Delivery Processes (SUITE & SEM) Develop necessary and agreed upon documentation and artifacts to support the reporting platform in an operational state Please complete the table below for any requested skills or certifications that are requested of this resource: 1 Experience in Information Technology Required 7 2 Experience in Business Intelligence/Data Warehousing/Analytics Required 5 3 Experience using an industry recognized ETL Platform Required 5 4 Experience using an industry recognized programing language/scripting language to develop ETL jobs Required 5 5 Recent (last 12 months) experience designing, developing and implementing ETL jobs Required 3 6 Hands on and practical experience in data architecture and design Required 3 7 Hands on and practical experience in administering a database management systems (i.e. DBA experience) Required 3 8 Hands on and practical experience in Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Required
