QUALIFICATIONS (education, experience special skills): • Extensive knowledge of o Windows server operating systems in a physical and virtualized environment. o VMware ESX operating system o Active Directory • VMware configurations utilizing clusters, resource groups, and DRS configurations • Ability to work independently and in a team environment to produce outstanding results. • Strong Communication Skills Description:Operations Specialist II TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES: Document applications found on each serverDocument application configuration files and make note of security risks (e.g. passwords in plain text)Analyze server and application logs and provide best-effort estimate of server utilizationDocument application compatibility/issues with newer versions of Windows server and provide recommendations for upgrading where feasibleDocument the business owner of each serverThe process will require iterative communications with other knowledgeable staff and subject matter experts to understand usage and ownershipOther automated tools will also be used to make process more efficientLog on to Windows Servers version 2003-2019 and identify what the server is used for. Many of the servers are production servers and someone with expert level Windows server Administration skills is needed to perform this work.The person in this position should be resourceful and have knowledge of systems administration tools such as vSphere to gather information in cases where the server can't be accessed directly.BS Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent computer-related degree required. MCSA Certification is Preferred.
