Direct client of Merritt Technical Associates Inc has a need of a contingent worker to function as a Linux/Unix system administrator with a focus on Middleware services in a production support role. The candidate will plan, manage and deliver system enhancements/fixes, software upgrades, customer support, system maintenance, and incident resolution. 5-10 years’ experience as a Systems Administrator in Unix Shell, Linux, and/or Windows scripting, SSL/TLS certificates, Autosys job scheduling, load balancing, and the implementation of alerting and notifications and monitoring systems performance and availability. Required Skills –

  • Strong managed file transfer experience including file transmission protocols (SFTP, FTPS, HTTPS, Connect: Direct)
  • Strong knowledge/understanding of PGP encryption
  • Ability to troubleshoot SSH connectivity/authentication issues (SSH key-based authentication)
  • Ability to troubleshoot SSL connectivity/configuration issues (understanding of SSL certificate concepts)
  • Understanding of multi-tiered application architectures and ability to troubleshoot/diagnose interconnectivity issues between components
  • Knowledge and/or understanding of perimeter security concepts (DMZ, Firewalls, IP listing)
Preferred Skills -
  • Experience in the IBM file transfer products including SFG, Sterling Integrator/B2B, use of the Sterling Control product as well as Connect: Direct
  • Knowledge and/or experience with common AWS services (S3, SQS, SNS, IAM, EC2, ECS, Lambda)
  • Strong knowledge/understanding of TCP/IP network routing concepts (common TCP protocols such as DNS, HTTP, SSL/TLS, IP routing)
  • Experience with F5 application delivery controllers
The successful candidate will have an overarching understanding of Managed File Transfers operations and support and must have strong troubleshooting skills (i.e. infrastructure vs. application problem triage), and the ability to operate independently and demonstrates initiative. Experience in the IBM file transfer products including SFG, Sterling Integrator/B2B, use of the Sterling Control product as well as Connect: Direct is preferred.
