A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A COMMERCIAL CONSTRUCTION SUPERINTENDENT

As a Commercial Construction Superintendent, you are responsible for the on-site coordination of multi-million-dollar projects. Passionate about quality and safety, you confirm that proper procedures are being followed by the crew. You ensure that jobs are clean and OSHA requirements are met. Attentive to all details, you evaluate the quality of work and code compliance at each phase of construction. You plan the installation of equipment and structures, including locating, measuring, and marking the locations for placement.

Ultimately, you are responsible for the project's profitability and the meeting of deadlines for completion. You coordinate and schedule with subcontractors. Working within the budget, you keep everything moving forward. You keep up-to-date documentation, including producing daily field reports. As the onsite representative for our company, you work closely with the owners to keep them informed throughout the project. You are always looking for ways to increase efficiency and safety and make recommendations accordingly.

An exceptional problem-solver, you resolve any worker disputes or other project challenges. You manage the onsite crew. Under your excellent leadership, they are inspired to take pride in their work, and you ensure that they have the support needed to succeed. As needed, you train workers in building methods and the operation of equipment. Your style of management fosters teamwork, respect, accountability, and trust. You get great satisfaction out of achieving revenue goals for our company while exceeding goals for quality and timing!

QUALIFICATIONS FOR A COMMERCIAL CONSTRUCTION SUPERINTENDENT

3+ years of experience on ground-up commercial projects, such as hotels or medical offices

Ability to read blueprints

Knowledge in safety and OSHA compliance

Knowledge about the materials, methods, and tools involved in the construction or restoration of commercial construction projects

Ability to write reports and professional correspondence to vendors, government officials, and clients

Good reading comprehension for technical documents, such as safety regulations, assembly and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals

Ability to effectively use Microsoft scheduling software and daily management reporting software

Budgeting skills

Leadership ability

Knowledge about design techniques, tools, and principles involved in the production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models is preferred but multiple factors will be taken into consideration. Experience with managing demanding clients and offering creative solutions to meet commitments and requests would be a plus! Do you have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal? Are you organized and able to effectively prioritize and delegate multiple tasks? Do you enjoy coaching and mentoring others? Do you have a keen eye for identifying non-compliance with regulations or standards? Are you willing and able to suggest solutions for deficiencies or problems? If so, you might just be perfect for this position in on-site construction management!

CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT WORK SCHEDULE

This full-time construction management position works 40+ hours per week, usually working an early schedule depending on the individual project.
