Description:The role is responsible for supporting about 300 Research Scientists and their systems. There are about 8 buildings on site and each tech will be responsible for 90 systems (about 80 scientists). Most of these are workstations, but server knowledge is important because there are some workstations used as pseudo servers. Team is about 12 people. Each techs will coordinate timelines and troubleshoot issues at their desks and remotely where possible. Because the scientists each have various open-source applications that they utilize for their specific tasks, this person needs to be able to provide critical thinking skills and troubleshoot really well. Most systems are Mac and Linux, but there are some Windows machines (willing to learn). Ideally this person will be strong with Mac workstations and have some experience with Linux. They must be able to walk through their knowledge and ability with command line. The right person will be open to learning the other OS they aren't familiar with. Documentation and collaboration as a team will be critical as well. They use JAMF and BigFix for deployments, but this isn't a must. There is a high-level person on the team who can help, but a qualified candidate will be mature and responsible enough to take on projects and provide a plan. The high-level technician can review the plan and is helpful, but doesn't want to do everything from scratch himself.Skills:Desktop, mac os x, linux, Mac, command line, troubleshooting, desktop troubleshooting, server builds, server administratorTop Skills Details:1.
