Position Description- Temporary Farm Labor $13.86/hour
The UW Lelah Starks Elite Foundation Seed Potato Farm, also known as the seed farm, is located west of Rhinelander, WI, on County Highway K. This farm supplies Wisconsin growers with seed potatoes on a fee-for-service basis.
The seed potato farm is accepting applications from individuals to assist with all aspects of seed potato cutting, shipping, planting, greenhouse harvest and farm operations. Seed cutting involves sitting at a bench cutting potatoes part way through the tuber in quarters or halves using sterilized knives. Gloves, water proof sleeves and aprons are provided along with additional personal protective equipment as needed.
Seed potatoes are grown hydroponically at the UW Seed Farm and pickers are needed to harvest the tubers. The potato plants are grown in trays approximately 3.5 ft to 4.5 off the ground, step stools are provided. Other duties assigned as needed.
Qualifications
Strong work ethic
Experience in agriculture is preferred but not required
Able to lift above 50 pounds safely
18 years or older
Must be able to work extend hours in hot/cold, humid and other agricultural environments

Hours 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM evenings and weekends as needed
Possibility of extension through the summer and/or harvest seasons depending on performance, labor needs, and funding
