Position located: Bakersfield, CA

About the Cinema

Reading International is a multi-national theatre and real estate company, with 24 theatres in North America. We currently operate in 6 states and the District of Columbia. Being a top-15 grossing circuit in N. America we play a significant role in providing entertainment in the markets we operate.

Reading Cinemas Valley Plaza is a 16-plex movie theatre right off the 99 freeway just outside the heart of Bakersfield. The theatre was built in the 1990’s opening to rave reviews and has remained a fixture of the Bakersfield community ever since. It recently upgraded one of the largest auditoriums, installing new seats and state of the art IMAX presentation. It also has a full kitchen offering a wide range of food offerings from traditional popcorn, nachos, and hot dogs to carnitas tacos, loaded fries, and our award-winning burgers. Our guests expect state of the art presentation, great food, and even better service.

Job Description:

We believe that our theatres should be kept clean and safe for our guests, vendors, and associates. Our definition of a movie presentation does not just stop at the movie. Beyond film presentation, we believe that all of our associates (from the concierge, to cooks, to the ticket taker and the ushers), should be dedicated to providing our guests with the best possible movie going experience we can give them. We are committed to maintaining our image as the cleanest, friendliest and best run theatre. We expect every associate to work hard and do his or her part in ensuring that we accomplish our goal.

Responsibilities:

Ensure all guests have a positive experience, regardless of making food/beverage purchase.

Ability to communicate effectively to all staff, on-site management, and corporate employees.

Provide service that is friendly, helpful and fast

Maintaining facilities (and equipment) that are clean, safe and in good repair

Supporting kitchen operations by helping clean, bus tables, wash dishes, etc.

Help guests navigate kiosks as well as make ticket purchases at concierge. Even giving advice on which films to watch!

Provide timely service at food service areas (such as lounges, café, patios, and main concession stand) which includes intimate knowledge of the entire food and beverage menu.

Willingness and ability to consistently suggestive sell and upsell food items.

Help local leadership team maintain adequate stock levels for the day’s business.

Control waste.

Clean theatres in a timely manner.

Maintain pristine common areas including exterior, lobby, halls, and restrooms.

Required Experience:

You must be willing and able to work nights, weekends, and holidays. We are open every day of the year!

Fluent in English

Attention to detail and a passion for providing excellent experiences is necessary.

Work exceptionally well under pressure to meet the demands of high volume during movie theater rushes.

Receptive to training and personal development.

Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.

Consistently maintain high personal and performance standards.
