Position Summary: Ensures the safe and appropriate operation of equipment by proper

diagnosis, repair and maintenance of the operating condition of production/processing computer

systems, machinery, and other equipment. Duties include but not limited to: Program, repair, and

maintain all production computers, networks, PLCs, HMIs, and instrumentation along with

mechanical equipment, such as pumps, conveyor systems, packaging equipment, fruit sorting

equipment, blowers, and motors, in accordance with diagrams, blueprints, operating manuals, or

manufacturer’s specifications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

● Make adjustments on sorting and packing equipment.

● Maintain Computers, PLC processors, Networks, and Process Instrumentation on equipment.

● May program PLCs and HMIs.

● Update change logs for all PLC and HMI programs.

● Confer with operators and observes, tests, and evaluates operation of machinery and equipment to

troubleshoot and diagnose cause of malfunction.

● Test-run repaired machinery and equipment to verify adequacy of repairs.

● Repair and replace electrical wiring and components.

● Record repairs and maintenance performed in an accurate and timely manner.

● Ability to work on AC/DC power and control voltages.

● Has all required tools to perform job and carries basic tools and test equipment at all times and

maintains such in workable condition at all times. Maintains computer skills in order to perform

maintenance and repair on computer-controlled machinery.

● Effectively troubleshoots electrical, mechanical and process issues in an independent manner.

● Change bearings.

● Familiar with hand tools and power tools use.

● Check and replace gear boxes & electrical motors.

● Performs other duties as required.

This position does not have supervisor responsibilities.

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty in

Education and/or Experience:

● Minimum 5 years’ experience with automation equipment and PLCs within the food manufacturing

industry. Previous experience with electronic color sorters is a plus.

● High school diploma or equivalent; AA degree or certificate from trade school preferred.

● Ability to read schematics and P&ID

● AutoCAD experience preferred to update control panel, electrical and PLC drawings.

● Communicates effectively and works well with all employees, visitors and vendors.

● Strong PLC processor troubleshooting skills; must be able to demonstrate experience with electrical

control circuits (analog and digital).

● Knowledge of PLC and HMI programming.

● Knowledge of Computer trouble shooting and repair.

● Knowledge of Computer Networks via Ethernet IP; must be able to configure, troubleshoot,

program and repair MS operating systems.

● Strong knowledge of process instrumentation.

● Working knowledge of machines and tools, including their design, uses, benefits, repair, and

maintenance.

● Effective troubleshooting skills; must be able to systematically diagnose electrical and/or

mechanical problems.

● Working knowledge of AC & DC power and control voltages, PLC, VFD drives and process

instrumentation; Allen Bradley Factory Talk SE and ME; RS logic 5000; Ethernet communication

protocols; Allen Bradley VFD programming and integration.

● Available to work any shift and holidays.

● Works overtime as required.
