El Dorado County Office of Education is hiring Instructional Assistants in the Special Services department!

Purpose Statement: Under the direction of the classroom teacher, assist in supervising classroom, playground, and community activities of students with disabilities and Juvenile Hall students; present instructional material under the teacher’s direction to individual students or small groups; relieve teacher of routine clerical duties.

Experience: Successful interaction with children in a classroom or other structured setting, preferably with students with disabilities.

Education: High school diploma or the equivalent, and two years of college (48 units), or A.A. degree (or higher), or pass a local assessment of knowledge and skills in assisting in instruction.

Purpose Statement: Under supervision of Director of Special Services or designee, provide one-on-one or small-group instruction to students with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD); present instructional material; complete routine clerical duties.

Use ABA processes and strategies, such as prompting/fading, reinforcement, preference assessment, shaping. Follow data collection procedures with accuracy . Utilize evidenced-based autism strategies under the direction of a BCBA and Certificated staff.

This position is distinguished by knowledge of and training in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), TEACCH, and other methods of instruction commonly used with students who have ASD.

Experience: Experience working with children in an educational or other structured setting, preferably with students with disabilities. Successful completion of the EDCOE Instructional Assistant-Autism exam.

Education: High school diploma or the equivalent, and two years of college (48 units), or A.A. degree (or higher), or pass a local assessment of knowledge and skills in assisting in instruction. Training in Applied Behavioral Analysis Techniques, TEACCH Techniques, and behavior management strategies.
