SaiTech, Inc. is seeking a Tracking Support Specialist to support the Deep Space Network at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, CA. The Tracking Support Specialist is part of the Network Operations Control Team (NOCT) for coordinating and controlling those resources used to track and command deep space probes at the DSOC for the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), Pasadena, CA. The DSOC is a 24x7 operations facility. The Tracking Support Specialist (TSS) is operationally and administratively responsible to the DSN Operations Chief who is the designated supervisor for each of four crews in the DSOC.

Position Description:The Tracking Support Specialist monitors the performance and reliability of ground tracking stations in support of the Deep Space Network (DSN). This includes, but is not limited to, subsystems supporting: Telemetry, Tracking, Command, Monitor, VLBI and Radio Sciencedata collection.

Responsibilities:
  • Provides the DSN with real-time assistance and guidance in fault isolation and restoral action of ground tracking station systems used to provide data capture and delivery to the DSN user Community. Data capture equipment and systems include X, S, Ka, and Ku-band receivers; X & S-band transmitters, Telemetry processing systems; Command processing systems; Antenna electronic and mechanical drive support systems; communications interface equipment such as WAN, LAN, Cisco Routers, Multiplexers, etc.
  • Familiar with the DSN data flow process (end-to-end) from Spacecraft to Customer, including those systems not directly related to the DSN ground stations, but which interface with DSN subsystems. These systems shall include AMMOS (Advanced Multi-Mission Operations Systems) and Project front end processors and communications equipment
  • Provides level one systems troubleshooting, remediation and restoral of DSN services. Includes fault isolation and restoral action for communications, data deliver, WAN and LAN equipment, applications and services
  • Provides near real-time assistance in order to resolve DSN resources scheduling conflicts, ground support system problems and real-time scheduling challenges for spacecraft operations which may result in additional DSN support requirements
  • Evaluation and documentation of processes and procedures. This will include generating, updating and deleting of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), ISO work instructions, and other relevant documentation used in the NOCT
  • Facilitate the provision of Support Products (Predicts, SOE, NUTP, etc) to DSN tracking stations in order to meet scheduled support activities and project requirements
  • Participates in network testing and training using experiential, classroom and other training techniques as appropriate. This position will provide training to personnel assigned, participate in training on new equipment and processes, and take part in
  • ongoing training to ensure proficiency and task performance
  • Prepare and submit a variety of network operations reports, logs, data, and correction action responses including DSR (Daily Status Reports), DRMS (Discrepancy Reporting Management System), Remedy Tickets, AR (Anomaly Reports), Event Logs, etc.
  • Provides additional coverage for DSN critical and launch supports. This will also include ensuring the NOCT has the required documentation and all necessary training to support critical activity
  • Represent the NOCT, as needed, in meetings and reviews

Minimum Qualifications:
  • BS degree in Telecommunications Infrastructure (or related field), experience may be substituted.
  • 2 years of related experience
