The Ads Vertical Strategy Analyst will support the North America Ads Vertical strategy team in identifying insights, opportunities and performance within eBay vertical categories that will help influence the Advertising strategy. He/she will be responsible for tracking performance, understanding trends, identifying opportunities and delivering actionable insights. This role will be based in San Francisco. Role summary: Track and analyze vertical category performance (reach, effectiveness and impact) to implement test & learn best practices Analyze and improve our Ads strategy (who to target and which channel to use) by looking at multiple dimensions (usage, opportunity, competition, seasonality, gap analysis ) Think strategically (in conjunction with SMB & Brand Engagement) how to improve and evolve the segmentation and then coordinate with analytics implementation and plan Support in analyzing NA trends to spot issues/opportunities and to improve our forecast Coordinate with other analytics team (mostly NA Ads Analytics) Apply your expertise in quantitative analysis and data-mining to tell the story behind numbers and derive actionable insights Think and work independently, demonstrate creativity and deliver quick results, yet demonstrate a team-player attitude Technical Skills: Hadoop Spark SQL (Preferably someone who has experience tuning the query for optimal performance) Programming: Python (8.5+/10), R (Good to have) Data Visualization: Tableau, R Shiny (Good to have) Excel, PPT Familiarity with Statistical methods (Confidence intervals/Regression/DT models) Problem solving skills: Problem solving using structured thinking, business knowledge, ability to understand the context and ask the right questions (Interview involves 2-3 case studies usually) What you need to succeed: - 3 -5 years of work experience in analytics, business intelligence, consulting roles
- Experience operating in a digital/consumer internet/e-Commerce space; thorough understanding of Marketplace business. Prior experience in eBay a big plus
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, while staying focused on the big picture. Good working understanding of SQL, Python And Tableau
- Excellent with excel and powerpoint
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
