Personal Care Attendant 1 on 1

About me: Hello, my name is Adam. I am 29 years old. I suffered a spinal cord injury a few years ago which paralyzed me from the chest down and partial paralysis in my arms. I do my best to not let this hold me back in life and continue to strive for an independent lifestyle. I am easy going and enjoy spending time outdoors, at the movies, gardening, walking my dog, exercising, video games, reading, and crafting hobbies. Also, I work part time as a hydrologist (mostly from home). I am looking for self-motivated people who are passionate about helping others and can help me achieve daily tasks of living as well as help me work towards larger and long-term goals. I like to keep a laid-back atmosphere with music playing all the time and good conversation is always nice.

Time and days of work: Hours are very flexible, looking for both mornings and/or afternoons, weekdays and/or weekends. Will sit down together to schedule monthly.

Location: I live just southeast of Rochester. About 5 minutes from RCTC.

Duties: Care includes assisting with daily activities such as dressing, light cleaning, bathing, meal preparation, exercising activities, and going to appointments. In addition, we will spend time on other activities such as going to dog park, walking dog, running errands, crafting, gardening, social outings, etc. (I drive myself). All care is self-directed by me. In other words: I know how to do everything, and can train you, even though I physically cannot do it.

Experience is preferred, but training will be provided. This can be a great opportunity to learn about certain medical fields. I have had workers that have gone on to become nurses, physical therapists, and occupational therapists.

Salary based on experience ($13.25) with some benefits. Payroll and hiring are done by Southeast Center for Independent Living. So, guaranteed paycheck and no money exchanges between me and employee.

Must be OK with dogs and cats.
