Advertising Sales Account Executive

The Centre County Gazette, a division of Barash Media, is now hiring a Full-Time Advertising Sales Account Executive to sell newspaper print advertising and online advertising in and around Centre County. This position is available immediately, starting this spring, due to the pending retirement of a very successful and respected veteran advertising sales executive. The successful candidate will receive sales and industry training from this veteran and management.

The Centre County Gazette is a weekly newspaper published each Thursday, with a distribution of 13,600 editions to over 400 locations throughout Centre County. The Advertising Sales Executive is responsible for selling paid business advertising into each edition. The successful candidate will also plan advertising campaigns for advertisers and coordinate various special sections, themed pages and event driven projects within the newspaper.

This position includes a base salary with paid monthly sales commission, with potential to gross $50,000 or more annually, based on sales performance.

The ideal candidate should have proven sales experience, but not necessarily in newspaper, magazine, radio, online or television advertising sales. We will consider all proven sales, customer service, marketing, hospitality and other similar experience and provide training on how to sell newspaper advertising. Candidate must have the ability to work under tight deadlines and travel throughout the day in Centre and surrounding counties to visit, sell and provide customer service to our clients. The candidate must be well organized, on time, and desire professional success. The successful candidate should be comfortable working independently and possess the ability to make decisions on the spot.

This position has an established, very successful and active client territory list. Hours are typically Monday through Friday, 8:00AM-5:00PM. A private office will be provided for you in our downtown State College office. A benefits package is available including paid vacation days, sick days and holidays, medical and dental insurance plans. Reliable transportation is a must. This is not an entry level position! We want the very best, as the successful candidate will be responsible for growing weekly revenue for our newspaper.
