Arbor Research Collaborative for Health seeks an information services professional to join our applications services team. The members of this team contribute to the design of custom software, including tools to communicate research findings, and implement protocols for data capture and study management. The responsibilities of this position encompass project management, business analysis, and quality assurance; experience in at least two of these areas is expected. A successful candidate will demonstrate knowledge of Agile software development process, ability to elicit complex requirements from customers, and exemplary customer service through strong communication skills.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities

Information Services Project Management
  • Create and maintain project work plans for Information Services development activities.
  • Collaborate with developers and functional managers to estimate resources for execution of the work plan. Ensure a clear understanding of project objectives and timelines.
  • Work with other functional and project managers to allocate resources.
  • Work directly with assigned project staff (of all functions) to ensure appropriate work plan understanding and progress.
  • Provide internal and external customers (including investigators, area/program managers, and contracting agencies) with required project progress and budget reports, as appropriate or required for each audience.
  • Assist functional managers in information services in documenting, developing, and improving business process models, identifying and implementing best practices

Business Analysis
  • Work directly with project staff (investigators, analysts, clinical monitors) to design and implement clinical study protocols in electronic data capture (EDC) system.
  • Be responsible for configuration of data collection instrument and study workflow.
  • Review data collection instruments for adherence to accepted standards and consistency across studies.
  • Work with data analysts and users to improve data collection and user experience during the course of a study.
  • Develop requirements and functional specifications for new software capabilities related to data capture and clinical study management, including improved user experience and functional capabilities related to clinical studies.
  • Work with study implementation support (e.g., clinical monitors, study coordinators) and technical developers on training and support issues. Develop user training materials and project documentation.
  • Work with leadership to improve business analysis processes and documentation for efficiency and consistency across teams and projects.

Quality Assurance Analysis
  • Produce and execute test plans to verify that data collection instruments and study workflow requirements have been met. Both user-interactive testing and database queries may be used.
  • Work with leadership to improve quality assurance processes for efficiency and consistency across teams and projects.
  • Work with project team (study implementation team, business analysts, developers, and project managers) to triage, prioritize, reproduce and track issues to resolution, including identification of critical errors, defects, scope changes and enhancements.
  • Effectively communicate QA testing status and deliverables across the project development life cycle.

Supervision ReceivedGeneral administrative supervision is received from the Applications Services Manager, with project specific direction from the Project Manager and/or Information Services Project Manager. Close collaboration is expected with functional managers and staff members on the project team.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree with at least two (2) years progressively responsible relevant experience, as indicated by one of the following:
    • Study coordination or implementation in the fields of health or social science, OR
    • Requirements specification and quality assurance documentation for either software development or project implementation
  • Knowledge of Agile software development process and ability to participate actively in meetings and ticket reviews
  • Experience using issue tracking systems (e.g., JIRA) for prioritization and resolution of issues
  • Ability to elicit complex requirements from customers (e.g., study scientists and clinical monitors), and to proactively and creatively contribute to enhanced functionality
  • Ability to effectively prioritize, quickly determine critical elements from trivial, and eliminate roadblocks
  • Exemplary customer service, with adaptation to audience-appropriate verbal and written communication approaches
  • Strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills; attention to detail

Desirable Qualifications
  • Health research and/or healthcare industry background
  • PMP certification or equivalent
  • Project management experience with an emphasis on information technology or data management, including requirements definition and task planning
  • Demonstrated experience documenting results of systematic, structured tests and processes
  • Understanding of evidence-based User Experience (UX) and User Interface (UI) design principles
  • Understanding of application object models and relational database concepts for communicating requirements to technical staff
  • Ability to write and troubleshoot straightforward SQL queries joining multiple tables and views
  • Proficient in MSOffice (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
