DescriptionDo you defend and protect computer systems? Are you a self-motivated individual with an interest in making a difference? If so, then you should join the Information Assurance Team. This position will administer tools and processes designed to ensure the security of the UNIX based computing environment, along with designing and implementing new security solutions. As a member of the Information Assurance team, you will have the opportunity to grow your Cyber Security knowledge while using your current skills to improve the overall Cyber Security posture of Union Pacific. In addition to using industry-standard products to secure the environment, this position is also engaged in consultation with other IT and business teams to identify and integrate security solutions across the business. The mission of the Information Assurance group is to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of Union Pacific's computing resources, as well as, providing a reliable and scalable security infrastructure. Team members are given the autonomy to explore new and creative solutions to securing the information technology landscape of Union Pacific.Accountabilities

  • Critical thinking and deep problem solving skills
  • Collaboration with strong communication skills
  • Administer and support UNIX security toolsets and processes such as device hardening, micro-segmentation, and privilege management
  • Product administration and support for UNIX privilege management systems, including keys, rules, and corresponding support applications
  • Discover, investigate and remediate anomalies in the UNIX environment
  • Support UNIX user provisioning products and processes
  • Identify and evaluate: 1) business and technology risks, 2) internal controls which mitigate risks, and 3) methods and technologies to improve the internal control environment
  • Consult with other business and IT teams on Cyber Security best practices and secure system implementations
  • Member of Incident Response Support Team
  • Support information security awareness programs
  • Correlate and analyze large amounts of data from multiple systems to identify user behavior patterns
QualificationsRequired
  • A Bachelor's degree or commensurate experience in this field
  • 3+ years of work experience
Preferred
  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
  • Work effectively and productively under stressful working conditions
  • Experience reviewing raw log files, data correlation, and analysis (i.e. system logs, firewalls, network flow)
  • Excellent and dynamic verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work well with others and as a member of the team
  • Knowledge of security engineering, system security, container security, network security and security technologies (e.g. firewalls, mail guards, antivirus, malware, authentication systems, SIEM and IPS)
  • 5 years(s) experience in Information Assurance or a Bachelor Degree with an emphasis in Information Assurance
  • Experience identifying vulnerabilities or areas of weakness which pose a threat and developing security controls to detect or prevent exploitation
  • Working knowledge of configuration management, TCP/IP, simple DNS, SSH, exploits and malware
  • Demonstrated understanding of IT Policy and Compliance frameworks
  • 2-4 years experience designing architecture or security solutions in a complex enterprise environment
  • 2-4 years experience administering or securing UNIX based operating systems
  • 2+ years recent experience with scripting (e.g. perl, python, PowerShell, regular expressions)
  • Demonstrated of control objectives, cyber threats and vulnerabilities
  • Demonstrated ability to work under minimal supervision
  • High-degree of self-motivation, commitment and integrity
  • Prior experience creating scripts to analyze data and automate processes
