A global manufacturing company involved with engineering automated parts and systems for the automotive industry, seeks a proven Production / Assembly Engineer. - Performs research, design and development of manufacturing processes including production flow, assembly methods and production equipment.
- Coordinates the manufacturing launch of new/revised products including establishing goals, training team members and evaluating results.
- Create manning plans based on volume forecasts for new programs.
- Gives input to product design based on design for manufacture/design for assembly philosophy.
- Designs, develops and tests and/or sources and cost-justifies various tools, machinery and equipment for recommended manufacturing methods.
- Performs product/process analysis for cost reduction, quality improvement, and improved efficiency.
- Develop and document quality system for new programs (PFMEA, process flow, work instructions, and inspection plans.)
- Coordinate and document all Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) activities.
- Calculate required dunnage usage. Design, test and order all necessary dunnage for new programs.
- Develop and maintain documentation such as downtime, scrap, and efficiencies.
- Utilize data such as downtime, scrap, efficiencies, etc. to plan and strategize countermeasures for equipment and process problems.
- Leads or participates in root cause analysis to ensure continuous improvement in processes, products, components, raw materials, and equipment.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field with 3 to five (5) years plus Engineering experience. Experience in automotive manufacturing industry is preferred
- Technical skills in manufacturing processes and methods including flow, layout, assembly and production equipment.
- Ability to motivate team efforts to accomplish goals.
- Working with AutoCAD or Solid Works software.
