Job title: Control Profile EngineerDuration: 02/15/2021 to 12/30/2022Work Location: Oakland, CA 94612Description:Control Profile EngineerDescription:This specialized Control Profile Engineer role will apply their subject matter expertise in the field(s) of healthcare technology, clinical engineering, and cybersecurity to co-lead the development of cybersecurity control profiles for various clinical devices. The Control Profile Engineer will be responsible for supporting the engagement and alignment of business leaders within the organization, and device manufacturers and other vendors external to Client. Additionally, this role will require the collection and synthesis of device design specifications and the reconciliation of unknown or missing data elements. The Control Profile Engineer will also be responsible for supporting the development of risk analysis and device configuration guides based on the collected data. Experience with medical devices and other healthcare technology is a must. Bachelor''s degree in biomedical or other engineering, and experience with cybersecurity is preferred.Actual Job TitleControl Profile EngineerAdditional Job DetailsEdge Cybersecurity Program is building & maturing cyber capabilities for medical, pharmacy, and other healthcare IoT devices.•This role will be part of a team leading the development device Control Profiles and Hardening Guides, which includes:o Collection of key data/attributes to profile devices - this includes online research, discussions with users, engagement with device manufacturerso Analysis of device attributes to determine cybersecurity strengths and weaknesseso Alignment of security gaps to industry standard controls (e.g. NIST 800-53)o Alignment of recommended controls to actual tools/capabilities available to Cliento Researching capability to install/configure/harden devices based on recommended tools (note: many devices are not technically capable of being hardened)o Socialization of hardening requirements with device users and ownerso Documentation of hardening requirements into Hardening Guideso Supporting the device owners to implement controls, enforcing implementation requirements & timelineso Discussing strategic product roadmaps with device manufacturers•Engineering degree is strongly preferred, ideally in biomedical, electrical, or computer engineering.•Ability to demonstrate basic knowledge/experience with medical devices, computer networking, and cybersecurity•Early-to-mid-career is ideal. Must have experience with large matrixed organizations like Client, must have professional maturity, must be open to learning/growth.•There is opportunity for on-the-job learning, but this is not a good opportunity for someone that wants to "get into cybersecurity", but has no experience.•Must be looking for an individual contributor role, this is not a team lead or manager/director position. They will be working with a team leader day-to-day, and reporting to me.•Salary expectations should be in the range of we will scale this based on the qualifications of the candidate.
