job summary:Our client in Grand Rapids is seeking a UI Design Operations Manager.Description:- Amplifies the value of design teams by aligning, enabling, and streamlining practices, tools and principles where needed- Leads through influence to build relationships, create a vision for new way of working, and change behavior as the practice evolves- Iterates on processes that optimize designers' day-to-day workflow-maximizing engagement and reducing duplicated efforts- Manages software licenses and other ongoing design tool partnerships/agreements- Ensures systems for design process documentation, assets, and file management are effective and designs new ones where gaps or inconsistencies exist- Leads implementation of automation to track metrics for design team integration, and impact-and communication of that health to leadership- Facilitates design staffing operations, including capacity planning, recruiting, hiring, and on/offboarding- Coordinates design team meetings and rituals, company-wide presentations, and team-building events- Monitors team and organizational health and helps facilitate mentoring and coaching support to continually improve it- Builds thought leadership in Design Operations inside and outside the company - 7-10 years experience in the design space (4+ years experience in a design operations role working directly with a design team and an additional 3+ yrs working in a design team - e.g. as designer, researcher, manager)- Bachelor's degree in design, business or equivalent experience- A real passion for working with people; supporting and enabling them-and you-to do the best work of your lives- An ability to work with multiple leadership styles and be effective in unstructured and ambiguous environments- The presence and maturity to lead team members without direct reporting authority- The nimbleness to adapt and thrive in a constantly evolving organization, with an eagerness to tackle new challenges as they arise Design OPS- Design savvy enough to evaluate design candidate portfolios and design tool/service vendors- The skills to balance strategic planning and accommodating fast-moving new requests to meet business needs- Familiarity with agile principles, modern product management, and project management methodologies and tools location: GRAND RAPIDS, Michiganjob type: Contractsalary: $51 - 70 per hourwork hours: 8am to 4pmeducation: Bachelors responsibilities:- Amplifies the value of design teams by aligning, enabling, and streamlining practices, tools and principles where needed- Leads through influence to build relationships, create a vision for new way of working, and change behavior as the practice evolves- Iterates on processes that optimize designers' day-to-day workflow-maximizing engagement and reducing duplicated efforts- Spearheads selection and procurement of 3rd party design tools and systems needed to execute great research & design work- Manages software licenses and other ongoing design tool partnerships/agreements- Ensures systems for design process documentation, assets, and file management are effective and designs new ones where gaps or inconsistencies exist- Leads implementation of automation to track metrics for design team integration, and impact-and communication of that health to leadership- Facilitates design staffing operations, including capacity planning, recruiting, hiring, and on/offboarding- Coordinates design team meetings and rituals, company-wide presentations, and team-building events- Monitors team and organizational health and helps facilitate mentoring and coaching support to continually improve it- Builds thought leadership in Design Operations inside and outside the company - 7-10 years experience in the design space (4+ years experience in a design operations role working directly with a design team and an additional 3+ yrs working in a design team - e.g. as designer, researcher, manager)- Bachelor's degree in design, business or equivalent experience- A real passion for working with people; supporting and enabling them-and you-to do the best work of your lives- strong operational and facilitation skills, with a proven ability to plan, coordinate and execute on continual process improvement- Excellent communication and diplomatic skills, possessing the ability to quickly develop rapport with team members, cross-functional partners, and leadership- An ability to work with multiple leadership styles and be effective in unstructured and ambiguous environments- The presence and maturity to lead team members without direct reporting authority- The nimbleness to adapt and thrive in a constantly evolving organization, with an eagerness to tackle new challenges as they arise qualifications:
