Please review the job details below.At Maxar, our next generation spacecraft range from Earth observation to interplanetary missions, including the Lunar Gateway Power and Propulsion Element (PPE). We are looking for an experienced Avionics Product Development Engineer to join our growing Space Program Delivery team. This position provides an opportunity to combine Avionics hardware expertise with architecture and data flow skills.As an Avionics Product Development Engineer, you will act as the engineering focal point for a range between multiple units to the entire avionics subsystem of a spacecraft being designed. Collaborating closely with a cohort of system and subsystem leads, you will develop avionics subsystem requirements and specifications through analysis and system trade studies, which translate customer requests into feasible design solutions. You will assist in flowing down avionics & data handling requirements into unit specifications, subsystem verification tests, and risk reduction plans. This will include vendor selection if new unit design is required, and close coordination with vendors while tracking unit deliveries to Maxar.Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and optimize data bus selection and design
  • Create telemetry budgets & provide inputs for avionics subsystem sizing
  • Collaborate with Flight Software, Database, Harness and other engineers
  • Resolve issues during AIT (Assembly, Integration & Test) test phases
Minimum Requirements:
  • or permanent resident
  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, mathematics, computer science or a related field. 4 additional years of experience may be substituted for a degree.
  • Requires 5 years of relevant experience. A master's degree can account for two years of experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 8 years of relevant experience
  • Familiarity with satellite avionics design and test obtained through educational training and/or on the-job experience in a related field.
  • Understand the response of a system to various design elements.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with the space environment and its effect on satellite systems.
  • Understanding of mathematics, physics and chemistry as they relate to mechanical and electrical systems.
