Description

Steel fabrication/manufacturing company seeks experienced Shipping Manager to join our team in Sedro-Woolley, WA. Our company manufactures a proprietary line of relocatable structures for industrial and DoD customers. The successful candidate will have experience in an industrial operation or manufacturing facility in a related field and will be highly capable in the processes and procedures to ship completed product. Employee will be hands on in the preparation, packaging and load out of completed product and will demonstrate an understanding of material tracking, BOMs and BOLs. A background in industrial operations is desirable. Fluency in English is required. Expertise in computer applications is required.

Essential Duties

Work Planning and Organization:

Develops daily work plans consistent with project schedule

Organizes special requirements for outgoing shipments and is able to strategize and plan for concurrent shipping activities

Communicates goals and objectives to shipping crew members

Understands production flow and anticipates and mitigates potential impacts

Contributes to daily production meetings to ensure responsiveness to shipping schedules

Ensures the readiness of outgoing product through execution of prep to ship procedures

Manages change when unforeseen conditions require adjustments to work plan and schedule

Is skilled in documenting, tracking and reporting

Meets deadlines and completes projects on time

Communication:

Is adept in communication with all persons that interact with this position: crew members, vendors, project managers, logistics coordinators and truck drivers

Is comfortable communicating in person, verbally and in writing

Quality Assurance and Safety:

Is attentive to detail and catches potential problems before they impact shipping schedules

Takes ownership for flawless and accurate shipments

Communicates concerns to management and engineering staff for further direction

Takes corrective action to resolve issues

Maintains safe, clean and orderly work environment

Conducts work activities in compliance with all Health and Safety policies and procedures

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in construction management or logistics management in a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

Previous successful projects or operations at the management level in same or similar field.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment

This position requires moderate physical activity in a factory environment. To perform the essential functions of this job, the employee is regularly required to have full range of mobility in upper and lower body. The employee must be able to spend time standing on a factory floor and balance for extended periods of time; be able to sit at a desk to perform planning and administrative tasks; be able to move over and around obstacles and climb stairs; be able to lift up to 50 pounds of weight or pull and push material and equipment to assist a crew member. The employee will be exposed to shop elements such as noise, dust, fumes and odors.

This is a salaried position with competitive compensation starting at $65,000 DOE. The company offers a medical/vision and dental plan, 401K plan, sick leave and paid time off to eligible employees.
