You'll not only be a key lead for the design and development of projects, you will also determine the approach taken to each assignment, coordinating with colleagues in other functions throughout the process. We are seeking a R&D Expert Software Technical Design Owner for our software team in Carpinteria, CA which is part of Pathology R&D in our Diagnostics and Genomics Group. We want to strengthen our software Lifecycle engineering activities to ensure efficient and successful progress in new or sustain software projects and maintenance of our high-quality portfolio of pathology staining instruments software for cancer diagnostics. We are enhancing existing products on the market in close cooperation with instrument development. We therefore need the best in class Medical Device software Engineer to ensure effective diagnostic solutions valued by our customers.

The job and your responsibilities: As R&D Expert Software Technical Design Owner you will work with the team to drive activities and projects related to our software portfolio:
  • Software improvements projects/activities e.g. feature enhancements and design optimizations based on customer feedback
  • Software product care/sustaining activities
  • Design Control and design documentation

Your tasks will include:
  • Drive planning and execution of software activities
  • Guide the team to secure good software design, scalability, and quality during software development projects (new or enhancement).
  • Ensuring that our marketed products are in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Own the product DHF and documentation according to internal and regulatory requirements.
  • Analyze and convert User needs to product requirements, user stories and create backlog for developers.
  • Conduct Risk Assessment for safety and effectiveness of the product
  • Collaborate with Test and Validation responsible for design verification and validation execution.
  • Provide expert inputs during software issues, customer complaint handling, improvement projects etc. Your input has direct impact on our ability to deliver to the market, on user safety and fulfillment of requirements set up by the regulatory authorities.
  • To succeed, you collaborate with a broad range of stakeholders in the organization e.g. Marketing, Procurement, Regulatory Affairs, Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, Developers and Global Service.
