Desktop Configuration Technician is responsible for the configuration of the hardware, operating system, and business applications that comprise the PC build configuration for the enterprise. This position is part of the Desktop Hardware Operations team, which is responsible for the transition of approximately 4000 PCs annually.The position assists with the installation and support of new and upgraded workstation hardware and software and ensures the integrity and optimal operation of the hardware and software as assigned.This position assists with recommending, implementing and documenting new hardware and software solutions that improve the associate workstation experience. Candidates for a desktop Configuration Technician position should have extensive experience with desktop hardware, software applications, operating systems and network connectivity. They must be customer service-oriented and proactive in anticipating and resolving problems while maximizing efficient use of computing resources.A bachelor’s degree in a computer-related field and three to five years of experience installing and supporting PC and laptop hardware and software are preferred, although we are willing to substitute work experience for formal education.Typical duties include:-Maintaining an inventory of installed software, managing software licensing, and creating policies and procedures for upgrades.-Ensuring that new equipment is installed and ready to operate on schedule.-Analyzing and making recommendations for hardware and software standardization.-Coordinating and implementing complex desktop configurations and installations across the entire enterprise, ensuring lease replacement deadlines are met to avoid financial penalties.-Working closely with Corporate Business Continuity teams, IT Recovery Services, and Investment BC Coordinators to establish and maintain software build sets for use during invocation of established Business Continuity plans.-Assisting with the deployment of PCs to support new or expanding office locations.-Leveraging technical and analytical skills to identify, resolve, and document software and hardware conflicts.-Identifying opportunities to streamline and improve processes and document and communicate changes accordingly.-Providing ad hoc and scheduled reports to management upon request to document and communicate key performance metrics.

Requirements3-5 years of experience building/configuring and deploying PCs (with at least 6 months of Windows 7/10 deployment experience)2+ years of experience supporting an enterprise environment (500+ users)Proven customer service mentality with a high level of detail.
