Work you'll do As an AWS Solution Architect, you will be responsible for partnering with architects and DevOps engineers throughout the organization, providing solution governance to ensure the application life-cycle is entirety implemented in accordance to Deloitte's DevOps, Cyber, and cloud standards. You will lead in defining technical solutions and a unified framework for delivery consistency throughout all Deloitte functions and channels. You will set technology direction by recommending specific technologies to pursue, suggesting training, and staff development activities as needed. You will identify requirements for system and application performance monitoring for an enterprise scale environment. Finally, you will become a high-energy trusted advisor with an impeccable reputation throughout Deloitte's organization.

Responsibilities:
  • Design and plan enterprise-scale AWS environments including application dependencies, data storage and flow, network connectivity, security and overall cloud hosting
  • Define standards and best practices by conducting POCs for new cloud technologies leveraged by the development organization and engineering teams
  • Ensure that all cloud solutions follow internally defined security and compliance controls
  • Review proposed application/solution architecture for newly onboarded products
  • Design and configure templates that depict solution architecture
  • Collaborate with other managers across the DevOps support teams and contribute to the overall vision and strategy of the larger group in the areas of automation, new technology/trends, and other opportunities for innovation
  • Work with software architects and developers to define cloud architecture for the development organization, leveraging in-depth knowledge of AWS services
  • Champion scaled agile best-practices, processes, and tools in support of DevOps processes
  • Participate and assist in leading the Cloud and Site Reliability Engineering practice community events

Deloitte Application Studios (DAS) Deloitte Application Studios (DAS) is the internal software and applications development team responsible for delivering leading-edge technologies to Deloitte professionals. DAS enables our client service professionals through a comprehensive suite of applications across the business lines. In addition to application delivery, DAS offers full-scale design services, a robust mobile portfolio, cutting-edge analytics, and innovative custom development.

Qualifications Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or IT-related field or a minimum of 10+ years of relevant, enterprise IT experience in a technical leadership role.
  • 5+ years of experience communicating complex technical concepts to external business and technical audiences
  • 5+ years of build and deployment automation (Continuous Integration/Delivery) experience using industry-standard platforms
  • 3+ years of comprehensive experience with core AWS platform architecture, including areas such as:
    • Organizations, Account Design, and Segmentation strategies
    • Backup and Disaster Recovery approach and design
    • Environment and Application automation
    • CloudFormation and third-party automation approach/strategy
    • Network connectivity, Direct Connect and VPN
    • AWS Cost Management and Optimization
  • 3+ years of experience in modern compute technologies, containers, serverless and PaaS technologies (Lambda, EKS, Fargate, Elastic Beanstalk)
  • 3+ years of experience with security controls and compliance (Role-Based Authentication, encryption at rest and transit, IPS/IDS and traffic inspection, application layer security, TLS, SQL Injection, OWASP, and DDOS prevention)
  • 3+ years of experience in various application design Patterns (Event Driven pattern, Layered pattern, Broker pattern)
  • 2+ years of experience in data design and services including relational, document, graph, and caching (RDS, DynamoDB, Redshift, Aurora, Neptune, and MQ)
  • In-depth knowledge of AWS networking and routing technologies (VPC, Security groups, NACL, Route53, Load Balancing and Availability zones) and traditional network, firewalls and load balancers, and hub-spoke model
  • Strong understanding of designing (SaaS) solutions including the 12-factor app methodology
  • Strong knowledge in building a multi-region active-active solution architecture
  • General knowledge of traditional network, firewalls and load balancers
  • Excellent scripting skills (Python is preferred)
  • Enterprise-level job experience, focusing on high volume, scalability and reusability when architecting automated solutions
  • Experience with Scaled Agile/Scrum methodologies
  • Exceptional communication, presentation and interpersonal skills with an ability to extract, translate and communicate meaningful information at the executive, management and peer levels
  • Strong technical documentation skills including workflows, architectural diagrams and support documentation
  • Travel up to 5% (While 5% of travel is a requirement of the role, due to COVID-19, non-essential travel has been suspended until further notice.)
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.
Preferred:
  • AWS professional-level certification
  • Strong understanding of bigdata, data analytics and ETL solutions (data load, streaming, transformation and consumption)
  • Strong understanding of Machine Learning and Cognitive technologies
  • Working experience in Azure
