This company is a leader financial services provider with their HQ in Newport Beach. Managing over $2 Trillion of assets and ETFs, a data driven approach has been taken and this company is looking for a long term contractor to work on support and new features of core data pipelines. This is an opportunity to work on complex solutions and improve your own skills by collaborating with senior, passionate engineers. Required Skills & Experience

  • 3+ years of production experience supporting Cloud Database Platforms (Aurora, RDS, DocumentDB, Snowflake)
  • 5+ years developing critical platform infrastructure
  • 8+ years of database development support
  • Experience with on-prem relational systems; Oracle, SQL Server
  • Experience with NoSQL and columnar data stores
  • Strong scripting abilities in bash, python
  • Experience in version control systems, Git and CI/CD
  • Excellent communication skills. Outstanding problem solving and analytical skills
  • Experience in building large systems, distributed systems
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/Engineering, Management Information Systems or equivalent.
  • Diligent standards in providing documentation and building repeatable processes
  • Kerberos and Database authentication using key vault
  • Knowledge of and experience implementing DevOps principles including Infrastructure-as-code
Desired Skills & Experience
  • At least 1 recent platform certification or specialty in AWS
  • Proven experience building AWS Infrastructure
  • Experience in public cloud data warehouse technologies (Redshift, Snowflake, EMR)
  • Experience in Data Migration Strategies to public cloud
What You Will Be Doing Daily Responsibilities
  • Provide production support, solutions and expertise for Cloud Database Platforms
  • Partner with engineering teams, business units to design, develop and deploy AWS Relational, NoSQL and Data Lake architectures
  • Ability to troubleshoot difficult issues quickly, deliver RCA and resolve in a 24x7 production environment
  • Support performance testing and application benchmarking activities
  • Provide recommendations and guidance for improvements of our design
  • Collect, monitor and alert on system health metrics
  • Ability to work off hours/weekends as required for maintenance
The Offer
  • Hourly Rate: Up to $65/HR, DOE
  • Contract Duration: 12 months
  • High possibility of extension
