We seek a Production Manager to join a well established, global corporation for a greenfield opportunity outside of Waco, Texas.

POSITION SUMMARY: This position is ensures that the manufacturing process run reliably and efficiently conducting functions such as: estimating, negotiating and agreeing budgets and timescales with clients and managers; planning and organizing production schedules; ensuring health and safety regulations are met; overseeing production processes; organizing the repair and routine maintenance of production equipment; plan, coordinate and control manufacturing processes to ensure quality and timely delivery of product to our customers. The individual in this position completes the configuration analysis driving production control. This individual must meet production goals, through production planning and resource management; comply with the client’s requirements, by complying with the implemented management systems. All this aligned with the vision and business model of our Organization.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Manage the efforts of operating teams of a multi- line, area or technology on one shift in the efficient conversion of materials into quality products in a safe, secure and sanitary manner within the product design specifications
  • Manages production associates, including Supervisors, across all shifts at the manufacturing facility to meet designated productivity goals
  • Plan and coordinate the fulfillment of the production goals of the plant, through the planning of the production program coordinated with the sales and logistics management
  • Coordinate and direct the production work team, as well as interact closely with the engineering and quality staff, to direct them in meeting the production goal
  • Coordinate and comply with the client's requirements, through the implementation of the management systems
  • Implements engineering changes and specification requirements presented by the Engineering team
  • Implement and manage continuous improvement principals by highlighting deficiencies and recommending changes in training, working practices and processes
  • Coordinate and comply with the established preventive and corrective maintenance programs, to achieve the maximum performance of the plant equipment and machinery
  • Coordinate and comply with the training programs for productive personnel to develop the necessary competencies of the personnel in the operation of plant equipment and machinery
  • Plans, manages, and adjusts workload and production schedules to optimize plant resources and meet scheduled production commitments
  • Proactively identify risks and opportunities as well as reactively lead on-shift incident resolution when operators require additional support. Prioritize, assign resources against escalated issues, and make decisions to resolve escalated issues
  • Actively search for cost reduction without sacrificing quality and making the use of equipment and spare parts more efficient through an analysis of the behavior of equipment and the consumption of spare parts to extend the life time and obtain the maximum capacity of the equipment
  • Promote the proper use of the equipment, with a technological respect for them, continuously auditing the use of the equipment and spare parts to use only original parts and not make alterations to the equipment that could compromise the safety of the operators, facilities of the same team
  • Determine the necessary adjustments to increase the efficiency of the equipment, to meet customer requirements in terms of volume and product quality, with the support of technicians, specialists and engineering and manufacturing heads
  • Lead, facilitate, coordinate, and track day-to-day activities required to ensure product transitions are completed on time, successfully, and in a manner consistent with organizational goals, departmental policies, and established processes.
  • Drive continuous improvement activities in quality, cycle times, process improvement, machine availability through technical enhancements and value engineering to improve/increase the capability of existing processes and remove waste
  • Keep abreast of current developments in manufacturing methodologies, and recommend improvements
  • Track plant performance to operational metrics and objectives, and take appropriate action to ensure attainment. These would include among others safety, productivity, cost, quality, delivery and inventory targets
  • Develop and maintain project plans and budget profiles to ensure delivery of milestones to agreed cost targets and timescales
  • Identify and justify capital equipment investment; analyze and improve material usage; oversight of departmental budget forecast and expenditures
  • Champion for change capable of role modeling via work ethic, focus and people skills
  • Analyze downtime, identify trends and develop solutions
  • Immediately communicate unsafe conditions, acts or injuries to Plant Manager
  • Meet or exceed facility housekeeping expectations
  • Attend various meetings and action/communicate instructions; produce written reports and make presentations
  • Provides overall management of the Production Operations team ensuring overall safe performance of machining and personnel operations while sustaining quality of product and timely distribution
    • Manage and lead the team, ensuring adequate staffing levels, managing holiday allowances, recruitment, training, development, appraisal, attendance, disciplinary issues and daily supervision to maximize efficient productivity
    • Motivate and coach the team to operational success
    • Assess employee performance; provide positive and constructive feedback; provide conflict resolution; complete annual performance review process; address performance issues with corrective actions in performance improvement plans or through disciplinary actions; monitor the completion of tasks and ensure good performance and record on appropriate systems
    • Apply qualitative and quantitative methods to measure team effectiveness and performance
    • Consistently promote high standards through personal example and roll out through the team so that each member of the team understands the standards and behaviors expected of them
    • Review, implement and update company records e.g. training matrices, performance reviews, risk assessments
    • Lead the team in new product and process introduction
    • Provide scheduling details, any needed instructional guidance of job assignments, correct procedures and applicable techniques to perform specific skills; ensure accuracy and completion

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • Required – Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical, Electromechanical, Mechatronic, Chemical Engineering or related field; in lieu of Bachelor’s Degree, minimum 4 years’ experience in a leadership role serving in manufacturing plus the required years of experience listed below
  • Minimum 5 years’ extensive manufacturing plant leadership experience
  • Project management experience
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a 24-hour / 7-day week continuous operation
  • Knowledge of manufacturing equipment, controls and maintenance programs

GENERAL SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
  • Understanding manufacturing processes
  • Prefer data collection and analysis experience in a high volume automated manufacturing environment
  • Understanding engineering, scientific and other technical information
  • Experience of New Product Introduction, reworking design changes and upgrades through to production
  • Ability to understand and interpret technical manuals, 2D drawings, P&IDs, fluid and electrical schematics and other engineering documentation
  • Proven understanding of BOMs, manufacturability, process design, process validation, assembly methods, design reviews and cost reduction methodologies
  • Innovative leader with the ability to identify opportunities and influence organizations to gain support and overcome resistance with data and persuasion
  • Ability to develop manufacturing documentation
  • Capable of identifying critical process parameters and applying statistics to process measurement and control
  • Development and qualification of tooling/equipment skills
  • Strong organizational skills and proven ability to maintain accurate, detailed records that will be audited periodically
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills for relaying data (verbally and in-writing) between other employees and clients
  • Ability to work on multiple projects at once with tight deadlines

SOFTWARE/COMPUTER SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
  • Intermediate level of knowledge in basic hardware and software using of a variety of different computer operating systems such as Microsoft Office Work, Excel, OneNote, PowerPoint, Visio, Google Workspace, Outlook/Gmail and web-site software required
  • Proficient keyboarding and typing skills
