Summary of Job Functions:

The Support Specialist provides support for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to assist them in pursuing goals related to employment, social interactions, essential life skills, and personal care tasks.
This position will work closely with the assigned individual and their team.
Essential Job Functions:
-Assists individual with their various employment tasks throughout the day
Tasks will include word processing, speech translation, note-taking, assisting with attending and facilitating meetings, answering phone calls, etc.
-Other duties will include assisting with activities of daily living (ADL’S), which will include meal preparation, assistive walking, restroom assistance, transportation, etc.
-Accurately completes note entry and other documentation of the individual's programs and progress while participating in the development and implementation of the individual's service plan
-Follows all policies, procedures, and guidelines of the program and the agency
-Meets all applicable deadlines concerning incident reporting, documenting service delivery
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
-Be able to work effectively for and with individuals who have developmental disabilities
-Ability to follow oral and written instructions, good communication skills, good judgment, and a willingness to listen and learn
-Ability to occasionally work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, overnights, and holidays
-Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, Zoom, and other virtual video conferencing programs, various web browsers, Apple and Microsoft operating systems, etc.
-Must be able to handle high-stress situations in a supportive role
Education and Experience:
-High School Diploma or GED
-One-year experience working with people who experience developmental disabilities strongly preferred
Clearances:
-Background checks as defined by licensing agencies. Current TB test/clearance, valid driver's license, proof of COVID-19 Vaccine, and proof of auto insurance may be required
Physical Requirements:
-Lifting ten to twenty-five pounds
-Ability to see within normal parameters
-Ability to hear within the normal range
-Adaptability to a fast-paced and ever-changing environment
