We investigate, select, develop, and integrate technologies and solutions that meet the needs of the company for short, medium and long term initiatives. This includes the delivery of the technology plan and future architecture for Voice, Video, Data, Optical, Commercial, Cloud, CPE, Network and Access.Job SummaryAssists with the Hardware and Firmware certification of Customer Premise Equipment that will be used for Charter deployment. Assist with root cause analysis for issues found within CPE and transport layer devices. Must be able to review Technical requirements and transpose them into test cases. Design and establishes protocol compatibility standards, develops and implements network enhancements and makes recommendations for improvement. Responsible for implementation of network architecture and designs.Major Duties and ResponsibilitiesWork with engineering team to review firmware requirements and provide feedbackWork with other team members and engineering groups to identify hardware and software testing requirementsParticipate in weekly bug classification and prioritizationParticipate in test plan creationEstablish test network environments as documented in test plansPerform Proof of Concept testing in multiple environmentsDocument results and review with designated teams or vendors as neededWork with vendor and Charter engineers to resolve issues discovered during testing; develop and document workarounds where possible, and assist operations team with implementation and escalations as neededParticipate in Operational handoff review activitiesEvaluates new products, performs network problem resolution.Works on one or more projects as a project team member, occasionally as a project team lead.Accomplish the above tasks within allotted project timelinesOther duties as required.Required QualificationsCandidates should have at least 2 years of hands-on network engineering experience, preferably with a cable Multiple System Operator (MSO) or Internet Service Provider (ISP). Experience with test methodology and tools are required. Experience with CPE and/or CMTS is required. Candidates must have a thorough understanding of DOCSIS and provisioning, including TR069.Experience with IP routing, IP multicast, streaming video, wireless, Voice over IP (VoIP), and/or home networking is desired.Experience with automation, databases, scripting, and system administration is a plus.Candidates must demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills.The candidate must be a team player, with an inherent ability to work well under tight timelines, and have strong problem solving capabilities.Will be required to share experience, skill, and talents with associates.Will be expected to work well with minimal supervision.Ability to work in a team environmentProficient knowledge of related industry specifications and standards IEEE, ANSI, Fiber (Multimode, Single mode, UTP, etc.), Bridging, Switching, Routing, Ethernet and Transport technologies and protocolsProficient knowledge in network design, network architecture, protocols and network topologyProficient knowledge in using ticketing and software tools to support the current operations.Proficient knowledge of basic network devices and basic network appliancesProficient knowledge of network designing software, such as VisioAbility to perform duties in a very fast pace environment and ability to learn new technology quicklyKnowledge of Microsoft OfficeEducationBachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field or equivalent work experienceRelated Work Experience (Number of Years)DOCSIS experience 5Working ConditionsOffice EnvironmentMay work in Network Lab environmentOccasional travel as requiredOffice EnvironmentSome travel requiredSalaries depend on geography, experience, and education; negotiations begin at $64500For more information on Spectrum's benefits, please click here.
