The Business Systems Analyst (BSA) brings a technical understanding of programming, networks, technical testing, interface analysis, and the ability to query and model data in support of achieving business goals. The ideal candidate elicits and analyzes business & technical/systems requirements, supports the development of design documentation, and recommends system controls and processes. Identifies opportunities to refine existing processes such as the Software Development Lifecycle and System Implementation processes.The BSA may act as the Department's primary contact to the user community within the Firm or may partner with other PMO or IT resources assigned to the project.The work requested of a BSA will vary depending upon the type of request or scope of project. This may include process, organizational and/or system changes, utilizing knowledge of the organization's technology infrastructure and specific software applications to help the business to address changes through technology.

Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Formal business analysis training is a plus.
  • Prior experience in the legal industry or working on legal projects is a plus.
  • Effective communication skills; to verbally articulate complex ideas and to create clear and coherent written materials.
  • Critical thinking and problem solving skills; to help others clarifying somewhat complex problems; to adapt or modify established approaches; to evaluate and reconcile information gathered from multiple sources; and to select analysis techniques to diagnose problems and develop solutions.
  • Diplomatic skills; to be able to negotiate contributions and priorities among project stakeholders.
  • Excellent interpersonal, interviewing and listening skills; to know how to elicit essential information, to understand the answers given, to identify missing information, and to detect what people might be hesitant to say.
  • Modeling skills; to increase the understanding of processes and requirements by expressing them graphically as well as textually using recognized modeling techniques.
  • Demonstrated facilitation and presentation skills; to lead sessions where requirements are elicited, processes are analyzed, scope changes are considered, tests are planned or reviewed, and formal recommendations are made.
