What We're Looking For

The Machine Tool Lead has a strong emphasis on Material Processing within our manufacturing environment. This includes daily production, exposure to new technologies and automated equipment which create opportunities for developing new processes and technical skills. This position would be leading a team of hard-working individuals and state of the art manufacturing equipment working in a hands-on manufacturing environment where safety & quality are of upmost importance. Individuals in this role can expect to work amongst various disciplines of Engineers, Operations, and Maintenance professionals in our manufacturing atmosphere. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Skillset and desire to learn about the variety of fabrication equipment and processes within EMIT operations
  • Able to troubleshoot and possess skills to support maintenance and fabrication
  • Ensure a safe environment throughout manufacturing practices, procedures, and equipment
  • Ability to prioritize and complete tasks and support production needs with limited support
  • Expand and execute new and enhanced manufacturing technologies and processes
  • Initiate, expand, and enhance the usage of materials, systems and equipment in manufacturing
  • Ability to communicate detailed technical information to a variety of audiences
  • Meeting with team members to review tasks based upon the True Tops FAB schedule
  • Monitor workforce and adjust as needed to manage daily overtime
  • Oversee and verify that QA/QC procedures are being conducted and that documentation is in place; escalating QA/QC failures and suggesting corrective actions needing to be made
  • Perform troubleshooting tasks with regard to machine outages, preventive maintenance and required daily maintenance and cleaning

Desired Skills and Experience

Experience

  • 2-5 years’ experience with Automation, Robotics, and/or Machine Programming

  • CNC machine experience
  • 2-3 years planning experience

      • Experience planning and scheduling CNC Machine shop jobs
      • Experience working in a machine shop environment planning jobs
  • 1-2 years’ experience managing or supervising three or more employees

  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to coach, mentor, and build strong relationships among all levels of employees

  • Machine tool operation knowledge

  • Forklift operation experience

  • Self-starter with the ability to establish, prioritize, and organize responsibilities

  • Ability to generate new improvement ideas and communicate them clearly

Education

  • Associates degree in Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechanical Engineering or related field

  • A combination of education and experience may be substituted for a degree

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

This role requires work to be performed outside of a temperature-controlled shop environment with a very high sound level. You must wear safety glasses, ear plugs and steel toed boots and gloves. This role may be required to visit areas of the company where manufacturing work is being performed to accomplish the essential functions of the job. it is required that appropriate clothing, headwear and PPE are worn at all times to maintain safety standards. You must follow and enforce all EMIT safety standards and procedures.

This position has the following physical requirements:

  • Heavy standing and walking

  • Noise level will vary from moderate conditions to extreme and ear plugs should be worn

  • Frequent stooping, bending and twisting of the neck, bending and twisting from the waist, and reaching overhead

  • Frequent fine manipulation and simple grasping of both right and left hands (e.g. power tools, hand tools, etc.)

  • Heavy lifting or moving materials weighing up to 100 lbs

  • Requires close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less) and the ability to adjust focus
